Dunno who you’re referring to but the Stop Killing Games petition was started when Ubisoft announced that gamers would no longer be able to play The Crew, despite having bought it.

It’s not new that online functionality is turned off after the player base dies down, but to be completely unable to play a game that can be played offline is crazy.

So now there’s a petition circulating, but it’s nearing its end. There are only a couple of days left I think.

It’s a petition for the EU (or maybe Europe or the EER, I’m not sure), and every country needs a certain amount of signatures. I think some Mediterranean island nations are still lagging, but most countries have plenty now.

If you’re in Europe, find the petition and sign it. Especially if you live in Malta or Cyprus.

And do 90% really speak English? Might be a bit of a stretch.

So back in the old days, you had a subreddit called 195 which had only one rule: if you visited it, you had to post the most recent image in your gallery.

At some point, you can imagine, the posted images became either quite graphic, political or downright offensive, sparking lively debates in comments.

This lead to r/195 eventually closing. A lot of new communities were started. r/196 was maybe the biggest and is still around on lemmy on at least two instances.

The more political, and sometimes hateful, folks of r/195 would sometimes brigade r/196 leading to lots of bans. The rise of federation led to a place for these people, a place we now call Lemmygrad.

How the schism exactly took place, I don’t really know. Maybe someone else has some more info.

In any event, r/196 is just the community name. If you visit the communities on lemmy you might find a lgbtiq±friendly community with a lot of funny stuff. The tankies are pretty much all gone.

I am also gonna doubt this data as the Netherlands has 6 weeks of summer vacation alone. I think we also do 12 weeks school and about 28 days a year fulltime for work.
