I know someone who got his dream job in Brazil. His plane landed and he asked his local host where he can get some halal lunch. He was told that there didn’t seem to be any halal food options in the city that’s the host knew of. Guy got on a same day flight and flew back home. This was 20 years ago.

I’ve seen a couple in the UK. Driving the trucks and loading garbage bins onto the truck. Here they don’t have to carry the garbage, they roll the bin into position behind the truck. Still physically demanding, but not quite like carrying heavy garbage bags all day.

Reminds me of the guy on Reddit who made himself a chainmail blanket. It had plenty of weight and the metal carried away heat pretty effectively. I guess if you add on a fan then you’ve basically turned it into a GPU cooler covering your whole body.

Edit: the other story that has been recycled regularly since the dawn of time is the story of a young undergrad woman hooking up with some older sugar daddy to fund her university fees.

I do this frequently as well. I have about 30 to 45 min after school drop off and work starting and I just have a nap in the car. It’s pretty comfortable for a short sleep on a reclined driver’s seat.

I do 12 hour shifts in the day. Theres and hour long break. Same applies to the night shift overnight and it is normalised for people to find space to sleep in their break. It is about getting this socially accepted in the day.

I’m outraged that this isn’t normalised at work.
