I’m only really using it when either playing around with some datasets or when running a local LLM. The really big ones are still a problem because your CPU is a huge bottle neck then.

I felt the pressure of only running 16GB and after one of the RAM sticks died, I wanted to upgrade. Because of a promotion, I had the choice to either run 32GB or 64GB for about the same price. Compared to today, I paid a laughable price for that RAM back then (IIRC a little bit more then 100 bucks for 4x16GB). I rarely use more than 50% of the RAM, but hey, who am I to complain?

Side effect: My old RAM always failed, when I tried to activate DOCP/XMP so this upgrade gave me another performance boost back then.

Although I cannot remember how to do it “correctly” I have a suspicion whats wrong with your post:

Mastodon just has a “text” for the post, some mentions and maybe media attached to it.

Lemmy also features a post title and an URL. IIRC the first paragraph of your post get converted to the title, the remainder is the post body (maybe you need to put the desired link second?!). I guess your text in the first paragraph is too long to fit in the title and the post is discarded.

IIRC you must be following the community with your Mastodon Account to be able to post there. At least that was the problem, when I tried it the last time.

IMHO The show was suffering from GRR Martin’s writing style in the books. Which I think is also the reason why he still hasn’t finished the series.

To write a novel, you basically need two styles. One is to follow the flow of the story and let it unfold, let it take you with you wherever it wants to go. He’s great with that. But you also regularly need to switch to a more focused approach that captures this meandering and “railroads” it in the direction of your planned ending/finale. Which he just cannot seem to get to. The last season(s) had the dilemma, that there were so many loose ends and character arcs to combine and “railroad” to the end, that the writing and story just had to suffer.

There was either the need for way more seasons, or to capture the story earlier.

Also I absolutely love the random insights/rants/ramblings the creator has on her Mastodon profile while reversing retro tech/retro games.
