its not a bad one really, just wrong for this data. Its a diverging saturation gradient with different hues for above and below the middle, which is a standard type. But it should only be used when the middle point is a significant value (like height above sea level or temperature anomaly).

So, if the median age of the world population would be in the “late 20s” it would be ok?
Maybe, if the global median age was a useful threshold. I dont know enough about demographics to know if it is nor not.
At least, then it would show deviation from some global average.
