While social democrats allowed ultra right party Vox to enter the parlament (first time since franco), it is not so bad: the leading right wing party PP probably will not ally with Vox since they both would not have majority. A nice feature of Spanish politics is that they have a party with a percentage of communists (led by Yolanda Diaz), something what would be not possible with ultraconservative countries like Poland.

The tragedy of Europe is that all the European left ended up siding with the liberals on the war while the right took an anti war stance. Now as people are increasingly realizing that this war was a disaster for Europe they’re starting to turn on the people who have been cheering it on, and naturally end up funnelling towards the right who took an anti war stance from the start.

This once again demonstrates that spineless big tent leftism does not work. People had to take a principled anti war stance from the start, even when it wasn’t popular to do so. Instead, they chose to be cowards, and now the right is sweeping politics in Europe.

Besides of the factor you’ve just described, the modern left is not focused on truly leftist ideas, like high taxes to billionaires anymore. So the populist, right wing ultras stole the voters. Modern left is a big tent for fancy liberals who “care about the world” by some symoblic meaningless gestures. We need ML back!

Absolutely, it’s basically what Parenti describes in Blackshirts and Reds where he talks about ABC leftists. We need solid class based analysis which is ultimately what MLs do.

The biggest regular communist party that presented themselves independently to the elections got 17k votes.

The nazbol party got 40k votes.

    I hate it in here.

I understand, that’s a good (and depressing) point, but compared to Poland, at least there is a communist party you can vote for.

It’s disgustingly easy to be a right wing politician in Europe. You can be a liar, incompetent, corrupt leader but the media will barely punish you. Center-left parties get a lot more flak for much minor things. Not that the center-left is much better, but the media bias is very noticeable.

I suppose that in a democracy, after a slightest inconvenience or obstacle, a voter wants to switch to a different option, since she or he have a choice, so she/he uses it because (s)he can, as a two year old child
