警視庁は１２日、父親を鈍器のようなもので殴ったとして東京都中野区に住む少年（１５）を、傷害の疑いで逮捕した。暴行を見た母親が急いで取り押さえたため、父親は全治３日の軽傷ですんだ。

調べによると、少年は１２日発売の携帯ゲーム機「ＰＳＰ（プレイステーション・ポータブル）」を買うよう父親（４２）と約束していたが、早朝から行列に並びに行った父親が違うゲーム機を買って帰ってきたため激怒。朝食中だった少年は、テーブルの上においてあった果物ナイフの横にあったフランスパン（パン渡り３０センチ）で、父親を何度も殴りつけた。

父親の悲鳴を聞きつけた母親が急いで間に入って止めたものの、父親は額に打撲傷を負う軽傷。少年は近所の通報を受けた警官によって逮捕された。調べに対し、少年は「早朝から出て行って一体何の列に並んでたのかと考えると、腹が立って仕方なかった」と供述している。

警視庁は、ゲームの理解が相互に不十分な親子関係から、今後も同様の事件が起こる可能性があるとして警戒を呼びかけている。

According to the investigation, the boy had promised his father (42) that he would buy a PSP (PlayStation Portable), a handheld game console that was released on the 12th, but he became enraged when his father, who had queued early in the morning, returned home with a different game console. The boy, who was having breakfast, repeatedly hit his father with a fruit knife besided baguette (30 cm wide) that was on the table.

Hearing his father’s screams, his mother quickly stepped in to stop him, but his father only sustained minor injuries, a bruise on his forehead. The boy was arrested by police officers who had responded to a report from a neighbor. During the investigation, the boy stated, “When I thought about what he had been queuing for since he had gone out so early in the morning, I couldn’t help but feel angry.”

The Metropolitan Police Department is calling for caution, as there is a possibility that similar incidents may occur in the future due to parent-child relationships in which both parties lack a mutual understanding of games.
