So not to be nitpicky but I saw some WRC content posted. Is this sub not just racing but motorsports in general? Should it be c/motorsports?
Wait, rallie isn’t racing?
What is your definition of racing? Is it simply anything that determines who is faster at something, or does it need to involve directly racing each other, being simultaneously on track and defending and overtaking to see who finishes first? That’s what I thought racing was, and rally isn’t that.
I would say the former. Your latter definition also excludes autocross
It’s meant to be very generalized and I didn’t think c/motorsports was as fitting when I started it. Sometimes I like to watch sim racing and that’s pixels on a screen so the motorsport part didn’t feel like it would cover everything either. At some point I’ll probably start posting motorcycle events that I find interesting too. As long as what’s being posted is generally related to competitive driving of some kind, it’s fine.
Lemmy has a few communities for individual series already and a lot of them are fairly lean on content. I liked the idea of a more generic space to get some fans together to hopefully get things flowing.
Rally is auto racing. If you objection is dirt, Americans have dirt track racing, Rally has all tarmac sometimes. Or was their another point?
