    How is California less flat than Colorado? Or am I misreading the whole thing?

      It’s not really a measure of flatness, it’s the difference between highest and lowest point. Coastal states with mountains will score higher than a state farther above sea level.

        That and Death Valley being below sea level and having the Sierra Nevada mountain range makes sense. Thanks.
