  • Yeah the size is what I think is most worrying. I’ve only just got here so I’m pretty keen on the content (which seems to be the regular content that was here before + a fusion of stuff from Reddit)

I’m really not keen on having an influx of low quality Facebook posts here.

I’m not the one to be on my high horse, thinking that these platforms or Reddit are beacons of enlightenment, but the comments here are light-years above what I see on Facebook, so I want none of that.

  • I feel the vast majority of new people joining these federated sites are coming from Reddit, so having the discourse centered around getting them in, explaining how things work and so on is pretty important for user adoption.

I know there’s an underlying feeling that these redditors are all going to flood the place but the more people using these sites and the more engagement can only be a positive

  • I never expected the site to just shut down and be in flames from a 2 day partial shut down. I’m pretty happy with the communities that have popped up and discussion about alternative sites.

There’s been a heap of discussion on alternatives and without the blackout I wouldn’t of even found great sites like kbin.

I expect that come the 1st July when third party apps stop working, we’ll get another wave of annoyance and hopefully can use that to help people flee

I know that come the 1st if nothing has changed I’ll be purging all my old comments and deleting my accounts.
