I will never get over how little consequence there was for anyone involved in this.
I just started watching this with my wife and I’m thrilled to discover there’ll be a second season. It is entirely adorable so far. We just finished the castle rescue episode and I just couldn’t stop grinning the entire time.
I’m coming into the live action as someone who could never get into the One Piece anime. It feels very faithful to the little I know about it from friends or family.
I think live action adaptations can often feel embarrassed by the source material, trying to downplay outlandish costumes or silly behaviors, when it’s those personalities and appearances that make the show as charming and wonderful as it is.
One Piece feels like an adaptation by fans who understand when to compromise with the limitations of live action and when to stand firm to the spirit of the show.
I hope it continues in that spirit, as it helps me see what the serious fans of the show love so much.
As a former 3a owner this project is entirely awesome to me. Really cool stuff and really well done.
