Yeah none of the jobs I’ve ever had have cared at all what my degree is in, it just shows that you can put up with bullshit for at least 3 years without having a freakout.

It’s kind of bittersweet being a very tail-end Gen X person. On the happy side, I got to do my childhood and teen years in the “fuck about” era, but on the unhappy side my entire adulthood has been in the “find out” era, and I get to remember what it was like briefly living in a world that wasn’t entirely going to shit.

In my experience it’s the orange and white ones you need to watch out for. Orange ones seem to be dumb but dopey, white cats are full of evil chaos but orange and white ones seem to get the chaos part and the dumb part. Just pure undirected non-stop dumb energy lol.

Proposed solution:

• Make sign that says “please keep this area tidy.” Send to supervisor for approval.

• Wait 5 minutes

• Make sign that says “please keep this space tidy.” Also send for approval.

• Wait for supervisor to ask why 2 different signs were sent for approval.

• Say you’ll look into it

• Do nothing for 2 hours

• Put up a sign that says “Keep this area tidy. Thanks!” Maybe add some clipart for spice.

• Tell supervisor “turns out there was a mixup with the drafts but I went ahead and took care of it.”

If done properly that could probably kill half a day or more.

He has recently returned to so some audio stories if that helps at all!

The horse archers thing sounds far fetched but someone literally got shot with a crossbow near my place about 3 weeks ago so who knows.

I tend to use a Mac, Windows and Linux at various points throughout my day, and as far as I can tell the errors seem to be like:

Linux: this went wrong with this process or file.

Mac: the stars have aligned incorrectly and we have lost our way, perhaps fate will one day bring back your Libreoffice file but there is no way of knowing

Windows: either a blank dialog box with ‘okay’ and ‘cancel’ on it, which both do the same thing, or an error report with 400 pages of nonsense in it, or the computer just turns off while you’re still typing.

The part about filing personal income taxes (at least in my country) that drives me absolutely bonkers is that if you get the amount you owe wrong, they’ll contact you and tell you you were wrong and how much you actually owe.

If you are able to calculate this then why the fuck am I filling out this form, just tell me how much I owe you and I will send it

They actually got as far as storyboarding the episode with Christopher Eccleston in it and IIRC Steven Moffat had a meeting with him about doing it, so they must have been pretty close at some point I guess.

I’m using Arch (btw) but I’m running NixOS in a VM to play around & learn it. It’s kind of wild, it’s not like any way I’m used to thinking about an OS at all, so I’m still wrapping my head around it. Super interesting though!

Yeah that’s basically how I feel too. There are/were some really good communities and content on there, but those things existed in spite of reddit as a platform, which seems determined to just keep being as hostile to its users as possible.

If it does end up going under it’s 100% because it did it to itself, so I don’t really have any sympathy for them over that tbh.

I did the data request a couple of weeks ago and it was surprisingly comprehensive. I got a .csv with all comments in it going back to 2009, messages, what I’d voted on and saved, and even IP logs (but only for the last year or so it looks like on that one.)

Me too! I like to tinker with things so this is like my perfect setup.
