1·1 month agoThat’s solid and certainly qualifies as long-form, thanks.

Seattle@lemmy.world•Cascade PBS Lays Off News Staff, Citing Federal CutsEnglish
2·1 month agoThis is bad news and I’m about to make a silly point that doesn’t really matter, but I don’t think Cascade PBS did any "long-form journalism published online.” Am I mistaken? They did daily news headlines, similar to the Times and KUOW, and I’ll miss that, but “long-form journalism” means magazine-length pieces, and I never saw that.

5·2 months agoYeah, I don’t think there’s any particular bad guy in what happened. Just another situation that might’ve been prevented if Seattle had a Mayor who cared about us little people, and that caring filtered down to the ranks.

Seattle@lemmy.world•Lack of crossover tracks promise frequent snafus once Sound Transit’s 1-line and 2-Line are on the same railsEnglish
5·2 months agoYou sound like my wife, which is absolutely a compliment. She was an optimist, I’m a pessimist. Grew up in Seattle with only buses, so I love having Link and want it to be reliable, but it suffers a lot of unscheduled “please stand by” disruptions already, and when a second line is running on the same tracks, I’m … skeptical.

3·4 months agoI’m joyously carless! Thought about adding the briefest bus info, just a route number for every venue, but it’s work so it’ll take a while…

Seattle@lemmy.world•Judge orders an end to nudity at Seattle’s Denny Blaine Park, for nowEnglish
6·4 months agoLittle known Seattle factoid: City law allows you to be nude anywhere, any time. Not, however, if you flaunt it and make others uncomfortable.

Seattle@lemmy.world•‘We are accountable to you’: Shon Barnes sworn in as new Seattle police chiefEnglish
61·4 months agoI am skeptical, just because he’s a cop. That said, I lived in Madison when he became chief there, and he said all the right things and there were no major scandals, so … fingers crossed instead of the usual fingers flipped.

Seattle@lemmy.world•The Broadway Whole Foods is, indeed, closingEnglish
3·5 months agoThat’s not my neighborhood, but it sure seems like Whole Foods should’ve been profitable on CH. Had business seemed slow from a shopper’s perspective?
Wow, so very well said, thanks.
I’m an absolute wimp and cursed with good manners. If someone throws a brick through a window, I’ll grab a broom and try to tidy the mess.
But I absolutely understand the brick-thrower, and they’re not my enemy.

I have to grudgingly agree. Saw lots of terrific movies there dating back 40 years, but I usually came out with a crink in my neck.
