The main hang ups I see, is the group that determines what counts as loss and how much loss each thing has. These would be the points of attack where the powerful would seek to undermine trust/effectivity/accuracy and manipulate this new system for themselves. There would need to be rigorous safeguards in place to prevent such perversions.
That said, I like the planned economy aspect but I also feel like it could be used quite well with a smaller scale, more anarchistic society of loosely interconnected groups.

What does it mean to you, to dehumanize someone? What is materially different about feeding an evil human who has done incalculable damage to the world into a meat grinder, vs doing so with the same person but this time, you feel bad about it because they were a human too?

I agree. Their actions dehumanize them. I do not. Their actions render them unworthy of the basic kindnesses given to humans.
There are no laws in this country anymore but what can be gained through force. That goes for individuals and the police and the police get to use force at their leisure.

So a few years ago I was backpacking in Thailand and I met this very nice local girl during the Song Kran festival (country wide water fight in the streets to wash away evils for the new year) and I ended up going back to her house where she lived with her aunt. Looked exactly like that. Toilet flushed with a bucket that you also used to wash your ass. Bed was a thin mattress on concrete. Cockroaches ran around while you slept. They had just enough to get by, but they shared it with me.
Now she’s my wife and lives here in the USA and I gotta say, I miss that little shack. Would be nicer than this shit hole country, at this point.
