I personally prefer like/dislike over a star rating system. Maybe, MAYBE having a middle “meh” rating would be helpful but at the end of the day you either recommend something or you don’t. If you ask a friend “should I play this?” and they say “idk man” that’s basically a recommendation to not play it.

Google search is still better than bing, somehow. Gmail is good for signing up to stuff I don’t want mailing my protonmail. Google maps is still genuinely useful. Youtube is, for now, still better than any alternative I know about. I don’t see what’s wrong with Pixel phones.

Don’t get me wrong, google is evil now and I don’t like it. But I don’t know any better alternatives for those things. Mm, except gmail, I could replace that I guess but it’s such a pain.

I program professionally in C# and I gotta say, it really isn’t for that. You can do services in it, but that’s as low level as I’d suggest. It’s definitely a high level language for rapid dev of web and desktop stuff.

These other guys have given a good gist of the issue, but IMO it’s inaccurate. The problem lies with society and capitalism at the end of the day. Basically, credit processors are in it for the money, obviously. And they view porn as a risk to profits, because puritanical society means that statistically a lot of sex related purchases lead to charge backs when someone finds out and the purchaser denies having any knowledge of it. So as a result the credit processors don’t allow their services to be used for sex stuff.

This is not to say that the credit processors AREN’T led by puritans with an agenda. Just that their profit motive probably has more to do with it.

Not a lawyer, but if they don’t provide the patch they’re in the clear, aren’t they?
