Like I said, royals aren’t normal people. See the fabled family tree of the Ptolemaic dynasty:

But that only works if you have a family fortune to protect. Normal people would rather spread their children around and increase their chances of survival.

    Yeah, I can see that.

But seriously, how much “incest” does the average family tree really have? And I’m drawing the line at great-grandparents, anything less than that is unrelated imo.

Royals were doing multiple generations of first-degree incest, that’s on a completely different level from normal people.

Looking at it, I wouldn’t be surprised if “can crawl up the bum” was one of the stated goals of the project. I can see medical applications for a soft robot that navigates tight spaces. Let’s hope “can crawl out the bum” is on the roadmap.

It’s much easier to organize the workers under feudalism, because they’ll be in the same places slaving away together under the same king. In cyberpunk, everyone lives in isolated pods and gets their news through the corpo networks. The few interactions they have with other people are in subcultures and gangs, but every other gang will be “an enemy” even though they’re the same class.

There’s also no obvious “king” to rally against. Neuromancer has the Tessier-Ashpools, but they’re smart enough to live in space and stay out of the public eye. Some corporations are more like sentient beings, where even the C-suite only live to serve the machine. Who’s going to overthrow Hosaka when it provides millions with jobs and stability? And how? The only entity with the means and the motive would be another corp, which doesn’t change the system so much as the name on a building.

I think the opposite is tomboys and it’s the older word that femboy is based on? But don’t quote me on that until I’ve checked en etymylogicimist.

Edit: ok, can’t find any sources to back this up, but tomboy is older and in a similar semantic space, so I’m still willing to claim that it was at least the inspiration for the shape of the word.

  • I don’t quite understand what you mean in that first paragraph. Are you talking about people who justify clearly bad behavior with religion? Or the opposite, people who are uncertain about good behavior because it contradicts their religion? Or both at the same time, people who give up trying to define good and bad and just do whatever, because God will forgive them anyway?

I worry about being good though, not for spiritual reasons, but because the world is created by the tiny choices we make each day and I worry about making the world worse out of complacency.

  • The actual Nazis were nothing but hypocrites themselves. Propaganda did a good job of only showing the elite troops, but not every Nazi supporter looked like a buff soldier with a strong jawline. Most of them looked like normal people living normal 1930s lives, bad teeth, malnourished, scarred by measles and what not. They were telling themselves that their Aryan ancestry made them superior despite their obvious flaws, it’s the traditional Nazi coping mechanism.

And keep in mind it wouldn’t make their ideology any more right if they all looked like demigods. The problem isn’t them not conforming to their own ideals, it’s the violent oppression justified by those ideals.
