If there’s nothing funny about it, it’s not a joke
This doesn’t excuse these people, but this is a bad way to define a joke. Funny is a subjective thing, a matter of taste, there is no objective “funny” to measure against to see if they qualify.

Yeah, I didn’t take that comment as accusatory, just figured I would make my position clear. There is a body of evidence that shows that the more intense someone’s homophobia is, the more likely they are to be sexually aroused by homoerotic stuff. However, this does not mean homophobes are likely to be closeted queers. The vast majority of these bigots are not, in fact, homosexuals. However, every public homophobe gets a lot of reactions suggesting they are, often even from gay people. Not great.
Oh, I am not just saying this because she is anti-trans, I am saying this because she has been speaking about her issues with gender for like 20, nearly 20, years now. The more that she came out with, the more hard line anti-trans she showed herself to be. This is probably made all the worse from her trauma from rape. But hey, I am not her psychologist.
oh yeah, i know about her, she is putting that stuff into the mainstream. Worst part is, she is likely so touchy about this because of her own gender identity issues that she has ignored rather than resolve.
Already have seen this. I have seen arguments pointing out what the Nazis did to trans people, the first clinic for trans people, and the research materials on it, get met with replies that it’s revisionist, fraudulent, jewish, propaganda.
That is how language works. It starts off small, then it catches on over time, and after a long time has passed, it either gets filtered out, or it becomes commonly used. The case for literally being used, for reasons other than its original one, started a couple hundred years ago. Today it is super commonly used that way, as it didn’t get abandoned. You are mad at the nature of the beast.
I can tell you how that guy is a cop. He started off meeting physical requirement however, after he had been there for years, he either was injured, or something, that put him on permanent desk duty, and ballooned up, but it doesn’t matter now, he is on desk duty forever. That or he had been there for years, and became obese over that time, but had enough seniority they just stuck him with an admin/desk job until he retires.
Literally has been used for emphasis, hyperbole, and metaphor since at least the late 18th century.
Don’t know if it was, but firemen tend to dislike police. I am also getting the idea EMT are getting to that point now. Close friends of the family have been in both of these fields for a long time. They, and all their friends, from their prospective work, feel derision for police. The firemen openly mocked them as long as I knew them, and the EMTs have been getting less, and less, friendly with the police in the last decade.
It isn’t that out of touch with contemporary prices. Maybe 10 years at most, as a lot of the cost increase has been the past 5 years. Doesn’t mean the image isn’t older, just commenting on the price here.
A current restaurant serving Lobster Thermidor costs about 55$. While any place serving this dish is likely a high quality restaurant, it’s not until one obtains a michelin star that it becomes a 3 digit affair.
People can call it whatever they like as long as everyone involved is cool with it. Refer to it as a penis, fine by me. I am just saying that this is a very, very, casual conversation and use of the word. Those actively concerning themselves with others using a word in a non-technical manner are just mildly annoying pedants. Pedants who likely use a word in a lay person’s manner, that is technically incorrect according to a professional or academic lexicon, probably without even realizing it.

If I slap a woman that way I would be hitting a variety of parts of her body. When you say vagina everyone knows what you mean, it is already part of the common lexicon to use the word in this manner, most people are simply annoyed by this type of pedancy. So, unless I need to give a small biology lesson when doing something slightly kinky to, or about, a sex organ, I am just gonna say vagina, or some other euphemism. Box, vag, pussy, etc.

Jokes are about intent. There is no way to define what does, and does not, qualify as a joke without enough error as to make is useless. It is all about context, subject, timing, etc.
