PS: English isn’t my native language, so sorry if I mispell some things, please kindly point it to me.

  • The last one is plainly disingenious. Like, implying that yourself are the one that didn’t let yourself be happier, and not whatever shitty circumstance in your enviroment, it’s a take that a self-help writer would be happy to hear, because they only want you to feel totally responsible and guilty for everything bad that happens to you (Rhonda Byrne, I’m talking to you).

  • I’m not saying that it doesn’t exists or that isn’t not a problem in Japan either.

I agree with you, but we should still have our right to fight against it, at least.

Anyways, actually there’s at least a recognized form of fair use: doujinshis, but these are a totally distinct matter, I have to say.

I hope that gets better there.

  • Although his argument doesn’t go in that direction, you’re mixing apples and oranges and splitting hairs.

In other words, he is NOT saying that being racist is bad and therefore being homophobic is also bad, he is not going on the moral ground.

What he is saying is that you cannot choose your skin color because it is a deterministic genetic fact that precedes any capacity for volition: your genes determine whether you will be black or white, not any decision after your birth. And he is extrapolating this to homosexuality, something that is in fact anchored in very solid evidence. There’s a reason he talks about choice: you can’t choose to be black because that’s only “decided” or determined by your genes, and the same goes for homosexuality (although I should say that there are also nuances; homosexuality also has an environmental component).

  • It should be at least. There are different contexts and it’s not appropiate in every context and all that, but you should still be allowed to do it in at least some contexts, like more casual, social or flirty ones.

If you don’t show any sign of it, how can you even expect to get connection with people who want the same as you? You can’t expect people to be mind readers.
