You’d likely need a really good filter to filter those out, so I hope yours works. And even then, those chemicals are in everyone and everything so they’re very hard to avoid.

I like your example but it isn’t exactly what I was pointing to. It’d be like someone calling arresting drunk drivers a “gray area” and choosing not to vote at all on a bill in favor of that. Which of course there are nuances there, but they are nuances that often are irrelevant to the overall conversation and should not inhibit decision making.
I think it’s good to note that while some of this is a failure to develop critical thinking, failure to entertain hypotheticals is OFTEN a trait for people with differing cognition. So don’t assume they’re poorly educated just from this, take it as a sign that the person thinks differently.
I’ve met and am friends with people who struggle with hypotheticals and education isn’t the problem, just how their brain works.
Thinking everything is gray is also an uneducated response to this kind of thinking. Too many people refuse to stand up for a point because they think that ‘all sides are bad’ or ‘well the good side isn’t perfect’.
I really wish the karma didn’t come with the downsides of bots. I wouldn’t be opposed to a system like the one reddit had with awards where the instances can take a cut of the award purchases. It’s nice to have a way to promote good OC on a platform and it solves a lot of what I don’t like about the karma.
I will say, public vote is sometimes nice because you can more easily understand the values of a community through the voting.
On android, you can use Firefox or similar to save the site you’re using. Go to its homepage and click the dot menu and hit ‘install’ and it’ll put Lemmy as a web page on your home screen. Works better than you think and can also be done on iOS
Thanks! Going well so far!
Lol yeah I’m not planning on it!
Think I’ll have to share in calling this week total chaos as the last few days I’ve been moving across the country to pursue an internship at NASA. It’ll be my first week at work there so here’s hoping it goes well. I also have a class I’m currently taking with an exam tomorrow. Very stressful indeed.
Okay I wouldn’t say useless. For instance, say that a user posts a comment that breaks one servers rules but not the other. Then it would be banned only on the server whose rules it broke. If it was a user of that server, they’d be warned or banned. If not, it’s still possible to ban that users posts from showing up on a synced instance. Still, wouldn’t recommend it.
I don’t use reddit on desktop often. Is there a reason they’d stop supporting it? Other than just not caring to provide updates of course
I think that the obvious ones are obvious. I think that rights for lgbtq people are possible to settle in the immediate future. Abortion too. Those big issues are major reasons that the right has become largely unpalatable for people in general.
The most major reason for me is that the difference in wealth is growing. And I think many voters on the right would agree with that but haven’t identified that the right is for the rich getting richer. So while I don’t believe the democrats will fix much, it needs to be a race between them and a more left leaning party.
Hear me out First you take a decentralized network with individual user accounts Then you take those user accounts and centralize them on one server Which server? THE server. Then you migrate the posts to that server Then you list the server as a company publicly to be traded Then I buy it Then I run it into the ground Sincerely, -Elon <3
Look, I’ll be honest, beehaw was a funny name to have and also it’s one of the top results in the app that actually looks like a web address.
Unique answer here but I don’t think it’s important in the current US political climate to define myself specifically.
All I know or need to know is that the answer to me seems to be left of where we are currently at. Makes my voting easy.
