For gender dysphoria there have been studies suggesting that prenatal hormone exposure plays a role. Many also experience dysphoria specifically about their genitals, so it’s likely about more than just social gender constructs (probably also depends on the individual though), with at least some contributing factors already decided at birth.

But yea, both gender and sexuality are very complex and there are bound to be environmental factors for both.

  • “Bro” is gender neutral for me. Though I still try to avoid it with transfems I don’t know very well (which is… all except one) since I can’t know if they’d tell me if it makes then uncomfortable. Since even if you know how it’s meant it can still feel bad.

One of the very few things where I’ll change how I interact with a transfem vs a ciswoman

Ah yea I’m the opposite, I’m always too warm to the point where I’ll often be out in a t shirt while most people are wearing jackets over a sweatshirt, so skirts would just be optimal.

It’s not even as much of a safety issue for me (since while I’m actually super weak I do not look that way at all), but my social anxiety just won’t allow that.

All the best to you to, may you continue to be comfy.

It makes me go from “oh god i have to do this and aaaaah ok ok i will manage the next step and oh shit i did 3 clicks in a row go me. Ok now again… nah in 2 minutes i need a break <random thought> ok time to focus on random thing for a minute and ohhh godddddddd i don’t wanna go back to being productive” to “meh gotta do this i guess, click click click, ok again, click click click <random thought>, do random thing for a minute, ok continue being productive, click click click…”

  • Gatekeeping really is not either of these things, but people can wear whatever they like. I can’t say I get why someone would do it at all, but not my problem.

There’s a huge difference between using it as a conversation starter and asking about their favorite songs or whatever, since it’s reasonable to assume they know and like the band, and going “name 3 songs” because you assume they don’t listen to the band and also somehow care about that.

It’s easy to say everyone should have human rights. But what if one person goes against anothers human rights? What is a just punishment?

And that’s before even getting into what rights people should have. You can very easily have everyone be theoretically equal while still effectively disadvantaging some people (and getting rid of that entirely is not even possible, we can just minimize it). There’s a lot to debate.

What I don’t get is why there would ever be a debate about excluding some people from human rights without them first violating others’. The only argument for that is “if we oppress this group, this other group will have better lives”. Which is often true, sure, but that’s just being a selfish asshole.

I once failed a test in politics class because after examining both sides I stated this issue does not affect me and I can see merit in both positions, therefore I do not have an opinion on the correct course of action.

Not like the grade mattered in the slightest but that was actual bullshit.

  • We are, because people want luxury goods too. Post-scarcity is about being able to produce most goods with barely any human labor (would absolutely be true for food if every person on earth only worked in food production or to produce machinery needed for it), which we aren’t even close to. AI and automation might get us there (though it’s questionable when the cycle of just investing the newfound labor capacity into more luxuries will stop, if ever), but people are actively resisting that (reasonably so) because the current economic system basically everywhere is horribly rigged towards funnelling the excess wealth to rich individuals rather than improving the living standards of society as a whole.
