Whisper of the heart is definitely among my top 5.
Eh, not only. Some of my favorite Ghibli films are Non-Miyazaki. I mean more generally things like their old-school animation techniques (don’t want another Earwig), meaningful storytelling, not chasing current anime trends etc.
He’s not resigning though, they already announced he’s not done making films.
Not sure what to think of this, but compared to giving the studio to Goro it might have been the better alternative TBH. I just hope NTV doesn’t lose sight of what makes Ghibli movies so special.
Didn’t get it either at first but I think they are referring to their total watchtime being about a year, not having started anime a year ago.
Always book a hotel (or AirBNB) close to a Yamanote line station. 90% of attractions are along the Yamanote line.
Nakano broadway is worth seeing if you like older anime from the 80s and 90s.
For cheap used retro games, anime goods etc go to Bookoff. The well known stores in Akihabara like Super Potato etc are a bit of a ripoff.
If you want to visit the Ghibli museum, you need to book it at 10AM (Japan time) on the 10th of december. Tickets sell out in less than an hour. Found the museum to be slightly underwhelming though, personally.
I wonder how they’ll handle marketing after release and later in the west. Information about the plot is now widely available, though I haven’t seen any screencaps yet. Maybe they’ll release some for press reviews? I expect we’ll get regular marketing with trailers in the west.
I’ve been waiting for a blu-ray release in Germany for months now. Does this mean it just won’t happen and it’ll only be officially available via streaming subscription? Sucks if that’s the case.
