If you’re up to a bit more complex of a job, I have files for headphone bands to replace the whole hinge and band with either 3D printed or cut metal.

3d printed can be done with any printer either as is or flat and then shaped with an oven to specific designs.

Metal needs only a dremel, drill, and sandpaper and can be made out if sheet steel from any hardware store. Bending is done by hand or 3d printed jig.

Both use 3m screws to be adjustable but can be glued in place if prefered.

In that he’s 3d printing an adapter to connect the battery terminals to molex. I want to take it a step further, pop the top off the battery, desolder the proprietary terminals, solder in the molex and then print a male and female mounting track converter. Then pop open the tool and replace that side with molex too. Tgen I just put the parts together as a kit and any time I see a good deal on a tool I don’t have I can gran a bag of parts, hit print, and have it integrated into my battrr system in 30min.

I’m basically looking to take a contact adapter to the next level and just replace the contacts on all current and future tools with something that’s easy to buy in bulk and reliable. The xt## may be what I’m looking for.

Instead of a brand style mount to attach their battery or a converter to connect brand x to brand y, I want to replace the little block with metal prongs with a little block that has a cheap plug I can buy in bulk. Then do the same to the battery with the compatible plug. Like instead of a 3rd thing, just build it into the tool.

Circular, sawzaw, drill, impact, vacuum, flashlight, mini chainsaw. They’re all Hart brand as either gifts or discount. They’re not bad for what they are.

I’m not at all worried about the clips and rails, powertools are relatively recent to me but I’ve been doing 3d printing long enough that if I can’t make it work with the current hardware I’ll just make and harden whole new shells for all the tools.

That’s my biggest worry, I’d hate to do all the work just to have to redo it regularly, so I’m not attached to USB-C, that’s just the current trend and I’d like to build this idea to last.

The battery to tool converter is actually how I got to this idea. I live by the idea than anything worth doing is worth overdoing, so why stop at an adapter when I can just make my own interface and modify all future tools with that? It will look cleaner, and all I’ll need to do going forward is solder in the port for any new tools I get.

Exactly like that for part 1, part 2 would be adapting the battery port to use a compatible plug instead of the current property nonsense.

That’s a good place to start for getting the finer details mapped out. As for that last part, that’s why I’m here really. My household is very neurodivergent and even if the tap water was proven to be the actual fountain of youth we’d still avoid it because we can’t take the taste. Unfortunately, the only refill station that meets our preferences is in a Walmart the town over. Even shoplifting the water does cleanse the ick of setting foot in the store so I’m willing to do more if it means less of that.

I’ll likely scale it down and use it to refill our 5 gallons, we go through about 3 a week, that’s about 69L (nice) where the 4 barrel setup is is 300L a day. That’s about 233 times the amount needed.

Though if I had the ability to install a well on my property, I’d probably build the whole thing and put a drinking fountain on my fence for the local homeless. Be cheaper than handing out bottles.
