Those are foundational skills like math and reading. Accounting exists and mechanical repair exists. They aren’t teaching you those specific fields.

Where do you live at, a battleground state? I don’t, so we never got all the targeted advertising and whatnot here. I imagine someone in Ohio or Florida would have a much different experience due to political advertising. However, you probably weren’t experiencing it online in Yahoo pool or Diablo II. The 24 hour news cycle didn’t exist until the mid to late nineties, and only took off after September 11 2001. If you were consuming and discussing political content on a daily basis, then you were an outlier.

Politics didn’t dominate everyday discourse like it does today. We had tv news, newspapers, Radio and magazines. Yeah, we knew that Bush sr threw up on the Japanese PM. But unless you subscribed to very specific periodicals you were only going to see major events and these were icky talked about because it was something interesting that happened, not because people had very strong opinions that they wanted to debate. I’ve seen people say that we lack a shared national experience like we used to have. We used to all consume the same media. So there wasn’t much debate. Now the facts are constantly being debated because people read wildly different sources that present the news in a conflicting manner.

I remember the before times, when nobody mentioned political issues and talking about it openly was considered taboo. The people that did were considered crackpots. Then the 2012 election happened and the Mayan profecy became reality. Now everyone has a political science degree apparently.

I feel sorry for kids that have to grow up constantly hearing political arguments. In olden times we would get a big political issue every once in awhile. Whitewater and the Clinton impeachment trial for example. Still, nobody really took that stuff seriously, and it was rarely the topic of conversation except for a passing joke here or there.

It was a simpler time, that’s for sure.

I’ve actually had a package delivered light.

I ordered two gas struts for my car, the corner of the package had clearly gotten damaged during handling and I only had one gas strut.

I have a friend who works at a distribution center for one of the big private carriers. He says that packages get ripped open on the automated conveyors and lose their contents all the time.

In that case I would accept the return and file an insurance claim. If that buyer is doing that enough then the insurance underwriter will come after them and you definitely don’t want an insurance company on your ass.

The issue then becomes conflict resolution.

I’m guilty of missing an issue with an item that I did not disclose. If I sent that to the buyer and I wasn’t included to give them a refund, what recourse would they have other than a bad review?

One of the main payment processors that was named said that they weren’t even asked if they wanted to be party to the case. The people complaining literally do not have standing.

You could declare certain times and days as “maintenance” days and simply pause activity (if that’s a thing?) Just so you don’t have to worry about anything that’s going on. If someone objects to that, then ban them since they’d be happier elsewhere.

Probably kids who have no concept of how things work and are used to demanding whatever they want from their parents. Maybe we could make it an 18+ instance for awhile. Just ask a verification question only someone older would know.

It was honestly humbling to be in that room. Here’s all these different people with these different organizations with huge amounts of experience and training, then there’s me, some guy. At the end the host asked if there was anything anybody wanted to add and one of the ladies from an org just says, “People are dying.” with a flat tone. That hit everyone pretty hard I think. The mood was already somewhat somber before that. The kid who was killed had actually been attending the financial literacy class. Many of the people in that room knew him because they work at the highschool that he went to.

Yes, the organizer is someone who has been active in the community for some time. I like the guy, he’s extremely charismatic, a bit strange, although a little too religious for my taste.

He was already expanding his organization before the death. He now has a space that he’s setting up where younger people can go to hang out or where he can have events. They are hosting midnight basketball throughout the summer just to help people stay busy I guess.

They had discussed the use of grant money to pay chaperones to ensure that they are consistently there. They had also discussed finding opportunities for young people to work. Even going so far as suggesting using grant money to pay kids while they work at local businesses.

As you can imagine there is a high amount of poverty in this town. The kid who was killed was in a car with over 6 lbs of marijuana that was packaged for sale. The driver of the car is in custody and was in possession of 2 handguns. While the one that was killed reportedly had a gun when he ran away from the traffic stop. He was on the honor roll, so it’s not like he couldn’t work a normal job. There is an abysmal lack of economic opportunity in the area unless you know people, so getting involved in criminal activity is pretty tempting, especially if you’re young.

I went to a second public meeting about how our small community is going to combat youth violence. This series of meetings was prompted after a recent highschool graduate was shot by police.

The first meeting was attended largely by religious leaders who also engage in violence prevention in a nearby city as well as local leaders and school administration. Most of the discussion centered around the causes of young people carrying guns, youth violence, and criminality.

The second meeting was local leaders from various groups and schools discussing strategies of keeping young people engaged and away from violent and criminal behavior as well as how they can coordinate with each other to best share their resources.

I had volunteered to give a short talk about online reselling as a form of legitimate side income to the financial literacy class for young people, however the class was postponed due to the meetings.

I assume tha different people with a gaming channel or magazine will start their own specific niche gaming Instances. Without a single company in charge there’s more reasons for other parties to have their own instance.
