  • Not necessarily. We’re looking at the second-most taught foreign language, so it could be something like:

    • Dutch areas: Dutch as first language, French as most common foreign language, English second
    • French areas: French as first language, English as most common foreign language, Dutch second
    • German areas: German as first language, French as most common foreign language, Dutch second

    This would result in the map above even though all three are different once you look at them. I have no idea if it’s actually true of course, just saying that it’s possible

    Joules actually are Newton-metres, in a sense. A joule is (genuinely) defined as the work done when a 1 Newton force displaces a mass by one metre. So as long as you’re willing to risk the Bureau international des poids et mesures assassinating you for your physics crimes, you can totally pretend that Newton-metres are for measuring energy and Nm/s is a reasonable way to measure power. While you’re at it, you should measure torque in Coulomb-volts for the same reason

    The Fortwo never got anywhere near that much power, not even the Brabus versions. Toyota did make a one-off version of the similarly-sized Aygo called the Aygo Crazy which really did have 200hp and RWD though, so the idea did actually come into being at least once







  • I don’t know if this is the case for Spanish, but it is worth noting that grammatical gender and human gender don’t always line up when they are both present either. Like German’s Mädchen, meaning “girl” or “young woman”, is not a feminine word. If that sort of thing is common it might help enby people feel a little more comfortable with it, or at least I imagine it might since I’m not one







  • They do interact with other stuff a little bit. It’s very difficult to detect them because they hardly interact with anything, but it’s not absolutely nothing so it’s not impossible to detect them. This is well beyond my level of physics knowledge, but apparently one such interaction is a process called inverse beta decay. High-energy antineutrinos that crash in to protons produce a pair of particles that is much more easily detectable. A rule of physics called lepton conservation, which is about the fundamental building blocks of particles involved in a reaction not changing, makes this pair of detectable particles identifiable as being caused by an incoming antineutrino.
