The licenses are more likely $30, not the retail price that we pay. They might have also gotten a deal with Microsoft to make them even cheaper/free to help them compete with the Steam Deck.
I don’t trust the other manufacturers to support their systems as well as the Steam Deck. Asus, Lenovo, MSi, and all of the Chinese brands make their money from the initial sale only. Valve continues to make money after the sale, so they want to make sure your Deck lasts as long as possible.
I still feel like it isnt enough on some ways. I went to configure it and I would want 2x USB A, 2x USB C, Ethernet, HDMI, and audio Jack. Having the audio Jack not built in really means one extra port.
Would be nice if they were investigated for anti-competitive practices when they do stuff like this.

Have the other two really done anything that would cause this inquiry? Not saying they haven’t, it’s just less obvious to me.
