It’s already happening, and has been for a while using a slow build-up so nobody would notice. The aggressive “play to win” assholes are destroying everything good in their unquenchable lust for power — including the good people who unwittingly helped them achieve their goals. There’ll be nothing left by the time all is said and done, but at least some asshole can claim to be the last one standing, for all that’ll be worth.
