Yeah the motive is revealed in the methods. Conservatives never propose legislation that specifically addresses any advantage trans women have, instead opting for blanket bans. The science shows that trans women have very little if any advantage in sports, and in my sports we’re actually at a competitive disadvantage. Hell, even the chuddiest of chuds could realize that trans women certainly can’t have an advantage in all sports. Do trans women have an advantage in women’s gymnastics? Have you seen the type of bodies that excel in that sport?

I would be open to conversations of sports fairness if they came from a place of honest good faith, but they don’t. The default stance should be equality first, with restrictions only introduced when absolutely necessary. Is it possible there’s some sport that trans women have some massive advantage in? Well trans women should quickly dominate that sport’s upper echelons. If you find such a sport, then maybe we can have the conversation about fairness. But even then, it should be limited to just what is absolutely necessary to ensure fairness, nothing more. For example, maybe some handicap system would be appropriate for an individual sport. But even then, such intervention should only be done if there is some enormous unfair advantage that trans women are systematically demonstrating.

Instead, we just get bigots that talk about a trans girl “stealing” their spot in a sports competition, as if she doesn’t have the exact same right to compete as any other girl. It’s fundamentally about devaluing the humanity of trans people all together. Trans identities aren’t to be respected, they’re to be tolerated and humored at best, persecuted at worst. It’s no different than the same instincts that kept sports racially segregated for generations.

That wouldn’t help protect companies from liability from their LLMs. Companies are still liable for what their employees say. If your doctor gives you really bad medical advice that results in you getting heart, the hospital that employs them will be named in the medical malpractice lawsuit. If an employee at a local business throws out a minority customer, telling them “we don’t serve your kind,” the company can’t escape legal liability by saying, “that isn’t our official policy, it was just the employee exercising their first amendment rights.”

The first amendment just means that the government can’t tell you what to say or not say. It doesn’t shield you, or the company you are an employee of, from liability for damages that arise due to something you say.

If it doesn’t work for actual human employees, it certainly won’t work for LLMs.

If you operate a restaurant at risk of such a crash, place a table or two right next to the probable impact site. Mostly leave those tables vacant. Reserve them only for local law enforcement that happen to visit your establishment.

What really gets me is that not even ordinary autoclaving can destroy the CJD prions. Those things are fucking terrifying. Look at sterilization recommendations for surgical instruments that have been exposed to them. The first recommendation is “destroy them.” The second is, “if you simply must reuse them, boil them in lye in an autoclave for an hour.” And even then we’re not really sure if this is effective at sterilizing contaminated instruments; the recommendations are based more on lab studies, studies in Petri dishes basically. They’re largely not based on actual studies on contaminated surgical implements.

Honestly, academically speaking, that is an interesting question. It probes at the heart of what race really is.

Is race how you are perceived? Then if someone darkened their skin and had surgery to take on certain facial features, sufficient to the point that people read and treat them as black, are they then black?

Is race genetic? What if a white person used hypothetical generic engineering to give themselves a genotype of someone with largely African ancestry? Their phenotype is still white, but their genotype is black. They aren’t read as white, but any children they have will be. Are they black? Will their children be? What if the genetic treatment also changes their phenotype? They now have the genes and a visual appearance that most would identify as black, but they know nothing of black culture and have lived in predominantly white communities their whole life. Are they now black?

Is race more about culture? Do you have to be raised as part of a black community to be black? If a white person adopts a black infant and raises them to adulthood in an entirely white rural town, is that child black? What if the parents are super racist and try to turn their adopted kid visibly white by lightening their skin, and they do this to the kid from birth? Is the kid still black? What about the opposite? What if it’s a white baby adopted by black parents and raised in a predominantly black community? Is that child black? What if the parents alter the child’s appearance to be visibly black, and do so from birth?

It’s honestly a really interesting question, and countless dissertations and books have been written on the subject of what exactly race is. So I’m not really qualified to answer this question. I frankly don’t know what precisely defines a person’s race. My impression is that ultimately race is a very squishy, poorly defined concept. The questions above probe the definition by investigating its edges. Another way to do so would be to consider the concept of passing (in a racial sense.)

I don’t really have any answers here, only questions. But your question, “how do you become black?” really sent me down a rabbit hole. When you take the question seriously, it really starts getting to the heart of just what this thing we call "race* really is.

What we need to do is to invent a new racial group. Let’s invent a new ethnic/racial group from whole cloth, one that no living human could be mistaken for. Then, we spread all sorts of viscous propaganda against that made-up group. We’ll get everyone to project all their insecurities and racism onto this one group that doesn’t actually exist. We’ll create deepfakes of them committing crimes. We’ll have politicians lie about them invading the country and stealing resources. We’ll declare them a secret hidden menace against the whole civilized world. We can all just hate on the imaginary people, and no real people need suffer from racism.

Unfortunately there’s no magic pill that can cause bigger boob growth. Everyone has a certain genetic potential for boob growth, and that gets activated to the fullest extent possible after a prolonged period of estrogen and perhaps progesterone. If there was some pill that could drastically increase the breast size of people that already have estrogen-dominated biologies, then the breast implant industry would not exist. If you could just take a pill to make your boobs as big as you want, who would want to go through the pain, expense, risk, and artificiality of implants? Implants would be used for breast reconstruction after breast-cancer treating mastectomies, but that’s about it.
