The ownership, energy cost, reliability of responses and the ethics of scraping and selling other people’s work, but yeah.

This is what tipped the scales for me to go from vegetarian to vegan. The idea of separating a calf from their mother just so we could have the milk for ourselves just didn’t sit right with me. I realize food’s a sensitive topic for people, but everyone should be aware of where their food comes from, and to this day some people think cows are just milk factories that don’t need to be impregnated first. But to be fair, the agricultural industry is really good at hiding the aspects of their business that would make the average person ask too many questions.
Why is the Statue of Liberty making what is clearly just an awkward hand gesture and nothing more?
This is what immediately popped into my head: https://youtu.be/H5PxjpW0fuc
It’s ok, he was humanely raised.
Sure, if you don’t mind sounding like a robot that was programmed to commit sex crimes.
For good reason. If that was a dildo it could do some serious remodeling down there.
That’s a bad faith argument then. You’re saying:
-
The only thing that would convince you is an impossible to test hypothetical.
-
You understand the industry causes severe environmental damage, but you’ll continue to support that same industry.

Animal agriculture uses a disproportionately large portion of habitable land per calorie (or gram of protein even) https://ourworldindata.org/land-use
The top drivers of deforestation are beef production and soy (70-75% of which is used for animal feed) https://www.worldwildlife.org/magazine/issues/summer-2018/articles/what-are-the-biggest-drivers-of-tropical-deforestation
Animal agriculture is a main driver of antibiotic resistant strains if bacteria, something the WHO calls “an increasingly serious threat to global public health that requires action across all government sectors and society.” https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4638249/
There’s an app called Fig that I use that makes it much easier. You tell it what you don’t want to buy (there are presets for vegan, vegetarian, allergies, brand boycotts, etc.), and you take a picture of the ingredients list on a product. It’ll tell you if it matches your preferences, or even if it’s questionable.
All smells you used to enjoy smell like bodily functions.
The post doesn’t mention environmental problems. Most vegans, including myself, are more focused on the animals.
Correct, but it is still harm being inflicted on animals purely for pleasure, right? I just think it’s interesting that most people don’t have qualms with that, when they would under other circumstances.
For instance: killing an animal because you like the sight of it = psychopath. Killing an animal because you like the sound of it = serial killer in the making. Killing an animal because you like the taste of it = normal.
It’s interesting that in any other situation, getting raw, unbridled ecstasy at the expense of an animal would be horrible. What is it about taste pleasure that makes it ok?
