I would also add Welcome To The NHK to the list of SOL with anxious characters. That show is amazing.

This is an excellent List. I’m just here to second Lovely Complex and Toradora! because they’re two of my all-time favorites. Lovely Complex gets bonus points for being a romance that keeps going long after the two protagonists get together. They get together maybe halfway thru the show to my recollection and the rest of the show is so much better for it compared to the more typical endless “will they won’t they” shenanigans.
Totally underrated show
Love all 3 of these. Phenomenal list
Legend of The Galactic Heroes
Mushishi
Odd Taxi
Steins;Gate
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex (seasons 1 & 2)
Guren Lagan is the best “saturday morning cartoon” type of anime I’ve ever seen. It’s the pinnacle of that vibe.
My favorite is probably Gas Gas Gas, but there’s really just so many bangers on that show
The one thing I hope they get right is the cheesy eurobeat soundtrack during the races
Just popping in to say that if you liked the Golden Boy anime, you should read the manga because it’s like 50x as long as the anime.
Seriously, there’s a lot of it
Legend of The Galactic Heroes
Watched the first 2 episodes of Migi & Dali last night, amazing show so far
I’d just like to add that it’s hard to overstate how high quality Witch From Mercury is from start to finish
As a fan of the rest of the series, I struggled to get into the first 3D season, mostly because of the timeskip, setting change, and different supporting cast.
I like plenty of 3D shows, this one just felt like a very jarring sequel
It really is. Just vibes for days, even on rewatches
You should look into Seinen. It’s a more mature genre for 18-40 year old men instead of Shounen which is targeted at roughly 8-15 year old boys.
Seinen shows include Berserk, Hell’s Paradise, Hellsing (and Ultimate), Mushishi, Kaiji, Speed Grapher etc.
Seriously OP, watch these. 10/10 masterpiece show for both of these seasons.
Most of the shows are in their own timelines, so you should be good to go. Universal Century (UC) is the timeline that goes all the way back to the OG.
It’s only the Hathaway movie and Cucuruz Doan’s Island that are in that timeline, out of the recent releases.
If you later decide you want to get into the UC timeline, just watch the 3 movies that summarize the original Mobile Suit Gundam as an entrypoint.
Mushishi
Kino’s Journey
Legend of The Galactic Heroes (the remake or the old one, either is top-tier).
Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt
Sounds like a bad idea to gamble on the same not-scientifically-proven method when stopping it helped stop your panic attacks.
Why not try something else and widen your emotional management toolkit rather than going back to something that messed you up in the past?
My 70-something father in law is a no-life hikkikomori who just watches anime all the time, now that he’s retired
