I think the best we can do is post on the Unix shell bboard system and request an update to the Lemmy version.

Yeah, it’s been slow. Maybe we can get them to update the Lemmy version while they’re at it. Lots of performance improvements in newer versions

But also just, in general, companies are not gonna be chill with people demanding they give them a copy of their backend software. It’s just not gonna happen, and the EU is definitely the weaker of the 3 major markets. Companies are just gonna go “lol, now you don’t get to play online I guess” instead.
Good thing they can just put an expiration date after which the game isn’t guaranteed to be supported instead, then.

I’m a software developer too, funny that.
I have also read the proposal. They ask that if it is not feasible, that publishers put an expiration date on their products, to clarify that the “game purchase” is actually the purchase of a limited-time license that is not guaranteed to continue working. The current practices are deceptive.
So firstly, that’s extremely easy to achieve, no more onerous than a decent warranty (or even a disclaimer that there is no warranty and it’s never guaranteed to work), but also, there are third party hosting companies that game publishers could hand off hosting duties to without open-sourcing, creating a final “single player only” patch, or otherwise creating a gentler off-ramp to allow the community to continue to maintain games on their own dime.

Only naive, entitled gamers would demand such a wild thing. It’s not going to get past any courts
Which is why the SKG campaign is specifically not demanding that. Pirate Software has misrepresented the stance of the SKG campaign consistently in his videos. Seriously.

5 minutes is pretty weak. Most people say to try anime for at least 3 episodes because of how the plot changes

The hyphen is for clarity. Its use is totally optional in that context

I watched it as it was coming out. Just kept hoping they would turn it around or unveil that the bland parts were actually all careful setup for some masterful twist. Nope, it’s just bland.

Bleach falls off so hard after the Soul Society arc. The pacing slows down to a complete crawl and practically every subsequent arc just recycles the same tropes and patterns over and over with the occasional shocking moment or two.
Genesis of Aquarion had a strong concept but the execution increasingly fell flat for me as it went on.
Guilty Crown had a very strong start but the finale was so forgettable I fully forgot what happened in the last 3 episodes within about a week.
Mirai Nikki has a very strong start, a mediocre middle section, and a finish that would have been incredible if it made any sense with the show up until that point. The twist itself does work, but the emotional journey of the main characters is done in a way that’s more edgy than it is relatable.
Darker Than Black is probably the biggest example of this. The dub helps fix some of the plot holes, but basically the showrunner who had the shows bible left the production about halfway thru season 1, so everything else after that point was the rest of the writers room just winging it, and it only kinda works, with the S1 finale being mediocre after such a great first few episodes. Season 2 is fully awful IMO.

Dark Gathering is hilarious, just my opinion.

Interestingly, they list us as a linked instance, so the block is from our side for some reason

I do like the member only idea. At least it’ll require that spammers donate before causing trouble and getting banned.

@SDF@lemmy.sdf.org, the user in question is @Mikal8871@lemmy.sdf.org. They created an NSFW community, didn’t tag it as such, and have been spamming porn onto the server with missing NSFW tags. 99.9% chance it’s the same bad actor who just got banned. Please ban them and maybe put a freeze on new accounts till we can add more admins willing to ban bad actors like this.
I would also be willing to volunteer as an admin for moderation purposes, if necessary.

I think the correct term is spammed. We’re being spammed by a single new user, who is presumably the recently banned nazi using an alt to throw a tantrum.

Yeah, I think maybe it’s just that nobody had any info to share.
I haven’t started watching it yet but totally agreed about the animation. Snippets I’ve seen were top tier
Super is pretty fun as well. They got the dub cast from Z back for it and the balance of action and humor is halfway between DB and DBZ

A new version was just released. One of the new features is parallel federation, in addition to reduced CPU usage. Hopefully if we upgrade to it, we’ll see reduced federation lag with lemmy.world
Okay, so like a GIF Wrangler
