Same on the disappointment. I liked Joan is Awful, Beyond the Sea, and Demon 79. Loch Henry and Mazey Say didn’t really do much for me. I wouldn’t say any of it was bad, but it feels like the series is reaching its end. Maybe that’s the reason for the Red Mirror branding on Demon 79?

That’s true, though the ratio is relatively weak. The microblogging services in the fediverse have seen much larger influxes than what Kbin and Lemmy are going through, and while I’m sure both Kbin and Lemmy saw some growth from those influxes, it was probably pretty minimal. I have seen some new users on Mastodon as a result of the Reddit issues, but obviously it’s just been a fraction of the new users on these platforms.

So the statement “fediverse is dealing with a large influx of users that’s way bigger than anything they’ve had to deal with so far” is either inaccurate in the definition of the fediverse, or inaccurate in the relative size of this influx.

Hate to be that guy, but general reminder that Lemmy and Kbin are not the whole of the fediverse. This is definitely the most growth that either Lemmy or Kbin have seen, though.

It is my understanding that the kbin admins are working now to form / strengthen a moderation team.

You mean something where you ask for community recommendations from other people? Or just a searchable community index like lemmyverse.net?

I think the only community I was subbed to that would have been impacted was the Nine Inch Nails community. It was only just getting started so I’m not too concerned with it.

Only sharing because this post made me think of it. Techdirt.com and Engine, a non-profit organization, released a game called Moderator Mayhem.

It’s a browser-based mobile game, and you will learn that you have to make your moderation decisions by swiping left (take down) or right (keep up), and try to align content with the policies of the company (a fictional review site called TrustHive).

I went full WFH in 2020 then back into the office in 2021. At that point people began clamoring for some kind of long-term WFH policy and we eventually landed on up to 2 days WFH per week.

In 2020 it was rough. I didn’t adapt very well, and work time versus personal time started to become very fuzzy. There also just wasn’t a whole lot of socializing being done in general at the time, and losing that aspect from work didn’t help.

Fast forward to today and I’m better adjusted to the current setup. I think I’d be fine with going full WFH again. I’m just glad that they haven’t yet decided to backtrack like so many other businesses have.
