Ce să vă zic, mă, bine ați venit? bine ați venit, rău ați nimerit. La locu’ ăsta îi zice șerpărie, de la șerpii care umblă pe-aicea. Dracu’ știe cum au ajuns…
@silvercloudfox Yea. Even if there are so little people around here compared with other places, people on Mastodon and on Lemmy (to a certain degree) have been generally very nice 😁
I wonder if there is some sense of forums that could be obtained through use of groups, although subtly different I guess
You mean traditional forums? tbh I kinda see Lemmy as a good basis for a forum, lol. Beehaw with it’s communities being created only by admins feels like it. Then there’s FediBB which (when it loads properly) looks like a full-fledged forum (although it is lemmy-based as well).
And yea. Every platform has its place, it depends on whom 😁
I’ve been looking to get rid of Facebook for a long time myself tbh for a long time. I don’t think people will get here, tho. Friendica is more advanced than the others, while people that are on Facebook do not seem to me the ones that would even understand Mastodon (I am more tech minded so I have more patience, this is why I got to like this network). Besides that, Facebook was really built on a privacy invasive model from the get-go, as I remember that when joining it, you could import your contacts from your contact list and find other friends, and voilà, you had some friends already 😁 Friendica certainly does not have this.
@RoyRogersMcFreely Mastodon is really lacking and it tries to emulate the experience of Twitter - which I also find lacking. If you want the best microblog experience, try Calckey or other Misskey forks.
I don’t know if we want something like 1., as it would risk leading to a form of centralization and influence. But 2. is really important. I’m usually also a lurker, yet I try posting stuff whenever and wherever I can.
@cptapathetic I see it on Friendica 😁 alt-right? I genuinely thought it was another tankie home or something. Specially by looking at the communities and posts, as well as the people there who were also on lemmy.ml
Edit: I see they also have a TheDonald community. Oh well ¯\(ツ)/¯
@Calvinball I’m not on Lemmy, but I can say that my Fediverse experience was above expectations as well 😁 when I first joined, I thought it would be either a deserted place that I would access whenever I remember (like on XMPP and Tumblr, pretty much) or ridden with alt-right people - the way Gab and other “alternative” freeze-peach networks of such kind are. On the contrary, I actually met the coolest alternatives yet.
@alyaza I was quite religious when I was very young. My parents were not too religious, but my grandma, where I would spend a huge part of my childhood, was. She never asked me to keep a lent or an advent (I don’t know what it’s called in English, but on the Orthodox side we have various periods of the year when we basically become vegan 😀)) We call that post - religiously it’s mainly about food, but not only. You’re supposed to clean yourself up in a way), but I would occasionally go to church with her, and I got the habit of crossing myself whenever I would pass next to a church (both walking or when taking the public transit).
Later when I grew up, I would find some awesome friends that gradually got me less religious, to a point where I would simply become agnostic - which was pretty much the same to this day 😁
@SharkEatingBreakfast indeed, dogs are really curious of the surroundings (happens with all the animals ofc, but dogs are some of the most obvious about it). And I know it doesn’t help, but most dogs really are friendly and they do not intend to harm you or anything. If you happen to stumble upon one dog that is not, that is the fault of the owner. Also as a person who owned a dog, I can tell you that if they are threatening, you will know about it. They will signal that if you come close to their proximity, they won’t stay like that. Otherwise, they do not attack you directly.
Stray dogs are a bit of a different story, in that they are also territorial, but you do not know where this territory would be and if it is in your path or not. Plus they go in packs, which makes them even more dangerous.
And yes, I understand that you might feel uncomfortable being smelled by them in public. Owners should keep them closer, but still, they are just curious. They do not do any harm or otherwise.
Owners will let their dogs walk right up to me while I’m actively backing away
Those people who do this on purpose suck indeed. I never let my dog go around places in public either. But you can try one thing: if you encounter a dog in a place where there’s nowhere to move away from, and it starts smelling your hand for example, try gently petting its head (of course, make sure it doesn’t show the teeth). You’ll both enjoy this 😊
@m_talon Didn’t you get to download your data in any way?
@nlm of course, haha! 😁
@nlm weird. Again, I’m not on Lemmy so I can’t tell 😅
@nlm yep, I received it
@NorthernLightMountain It seems to be one on my end. I am on Friendica. Here’s how it looks like
It’s likely to be an issue with kbin I guess, I don’t know. But don’t worry, your message does get through though.
Did you add the content warning on purpose yourself? 😁
@brn123 I always thought this was just a silly joke. Like: haha, you did something breaking our website lol, now move away, so we can fix it or something.
@kalanggam I am on Friendica, so the wiki says to tag forums (Friendica’s current lingo for Fediverse groups, including Lemmy communities) with !
and accounts with . However, groups can be tagged with
as well.
I do like a clear separation tho, so I tag them with !
usually.
@Showervagina that’s too bad. It sucks when the community in your country is picking up steam (i.e. local subs on specific topic springing up, other existing communities getting more active etc.) - as the world is not only the US and not only English speaking even.
I know I might be going against the stream, but I think I will stay on Reddit until it fills with spam and shit or until Reddit goes along Musks’s oh-we-love-free-speech-but-we-must-comply-with-countries-laws-that-don’t-bussiness-is-bussiness-bro and starts deleting posts at the request of governments.
@JesusTheCarpenter Not sure if you can use it, but there is a “remind me!” bot that you can follow. It’s at @remindme@mstdn.social
