I think that a weekly thread that populates replies automatically as new episodes come out would be a good compromise regarding sparing people’s front pages from a deluge of posts and also keeping things relatively indexed so people can avoid spoilers

Here’s the thing, for beehaw? yes. absolutely. But for lemmy? we don’t get to choose. That’s the cool part about federated social media though, is that as a corner of it grows, the whole concept grows. Which is really cool but also kind of an interesting problem for scalability

Honestly I’d love to try kagi but it’s so hard to de-googleify your life when you use Gmail and use an Android phone. Like, I’d like to, but it feels like such a pipe dream if I want to use tech I’ve grown accustomed to.

Especially bc kagi expects a subscription (it should, searching isn’t cheap and I like not being the product) but when money is tight it’s hard to justify paying for searching when Google and co are right there

Tbh as long as it’s relevant news, I don’t see any reason why not to. Like. The reddit discourse will die down, but watching a site implode in realtime is worth talking about even if we weren’t active reddit users at one point yknow, like. It’s interesting and worth talking about, add on to that the fact that there’s some semblance of personal stakes and it’s gonna be p prevalent around here. But that’ll die down with time.

Calckey looks like it has a really mature ui, which is something that other fediverse stuff seems to struggle with. How inter-operable is it with stuff like mastodon? I understand that’s the whole point of the fediverse but I’m curious how well calckey works as like a one-stop shop, as it were. Or if not, what’s it primarily useful for?

The moral high ground some mastodon users seem to hold over people that have been slower to migrate for any number of completely justifiable reasons has been a definite sticking point in my attempts to switch over to the fediverse as my primary way of keeping up with the internet. Its frustrating but I hope the influx of new users will change the tone a little bit – hopefully not too terribly much, but one that’s a bit more… patient would be nice
