You should enable prefer system libraries as well

The Lutris FHS env does have many libraries used by Linux games. If you look at the package definition you’ll see it has many more than the steam-run env. Trying to use steam-run inside Lutris is unlikely to resolve these issues. Do you have the Lutris runtime enabled?

That issue gives basically zero info on what’s happening, theres a million reasons a game could be failing to install. Ive been using Lutris on NixOS for years and have rarely had issues.

How are you adding the game to lutris? Are you running it through nix-ld/steam-run inside lutris? Can you share an example of a game you’re trying to run?
Edit: I hadn’t run a native game through Lutris in a while so I grabbed a random one to make sure it hasn’t just suddenly stopped working. I downloaded a couple from GOG and each is working as expected, so this sounds like it’s most likely a configuration issue, not the Lutris package itself. Make sure you have “Disable Lutris runtime” checked off and “Prefer system libraries” checked on.
I dont like that Gnome pushes this, but its also no theyre fault COSMIC chose to implement it the way they have. They could choose to give users an option to force server side decorations.
I am aware, OP saying EoP just made me think of powerline and I wanted to share it for anybody who hasn’t heard of it since its a neat technology :)
Appreciate you sharing this for anyone whos unaware though! I also didn’t know that plugging it into an outlet multiplier could have issues, thats interesting.

No problem! In case you havent found it already, the packages and options are available to search here: https://search.nixos.org/packages

You need to add the package for your preferred editor to your configuration.nix and rebuild your system

This is the correct way to configure Steam to use remote play, but OP is looking for how to install the Steam Link application, which can be installed separately from Steam. Its good for low power devices like a raspberry pi.

I’d recommend just installing the Flatpak. If you want to have it in your Nix configuration you can use nix-flatpak.
I’d also recommend looking into other options like Moonlight and Sunshine, they have better performance in my experience.

I imagine they want to install to install it on a low power device, where it wouldn’t make sense to install the full steam client.

You need to update home-manager, but you should not change your stateVersion. That option should always be kept on the version you installed it on.
Could you share the logs from Lutris?
