Yeah they claim it’s for the trees but we’ve heard that argument before. They don’t give a damn about the trees. If that was the case they’d be trying to limit the sprawl of the city down in enumclaw and Puyallup. They just don’t want more density around them.

I think this is the best they could say though, I’m not sure what you’re going for. From where I stand, it sounds great (implementation is different, but when dealing with them all we have is their word for now).
They said “If they see somebody being assaulted unlawfully or attacked unlawfully or otherwise having their legal rights violated, we do not expect state and local law enforcement officers to simply watch or do nothing.”
What did you want them to say? They are expected to watch or do nothing? They can’t mandate that they will, at least our AG/Gov can’t, that’s not really in their power to so, instead they’re setting expectations in the best way they can.
And yes, public spaces. Do you want them coming into private spaces? Were they supposed to say that? That also would be a horrid thing for them to say “They’ll be coming to your private spaces”.
I really don’t think this is saying what you think it is.

Check the legend for the true sadness of this

That’s a good callout, I’ll send something too. It has the potential for being a great spot - if it’s done well. Battersea they made into a mixed-use haven, with commercial on the ground floor and upper floors being apartments, making it a place to live, to socialize, and everything could be walkable. That could be a very easy win here. We need less mega-apartment buildings and more real-life usable neighborhoods.

This could be really cool. Looking at London and what they did with Battersea Power Station this could turn an old failing building into a focal point of a new development.

God she just embodies let perfect be the enemy of good. Any time something good happens she has to ruin it by saying it should be perfect instead. Well yeah it should, but can’t we have something good in the meantime?
The protest comes as Sawant has targeted the congressional seat of District 9’s Adam Smith.
Ah. So that’s why. Another performative politician.

Not bad. Seems straightforward to me after listening to the whole thing. We’ll see what actually gets done.
Investing in repaving roads and fixing bridges - with no tax increases. In fact, only tax increase I heard proposed was a millions tax, and that’s if you earn over 1mil a year. Anyone upset about that makes too much money and deserves it. Pushing back against federal overreach, more veteran’s benefits
Overall, positive speech, now get it done
Here in Seattle we have the belief that individuals have the freedom and liberty to make decisions about their own bodies.
Apparently that pisses off conservatives.

I had a cached copy, feel free to use it.

Love it, the rapidrides are a godsend and make it so much easier to get around. After staying in Vancouver and getting stuck in traffic for 45 minutes without moving on their busses, I’m very happy we’re investing in bus lanes.

I wasn’t, I’m a huge rail fan and have ridden Amtrak dozens of times. I was praising them.

I think that’s something most forget here in north America. It’s about having the option, and the vast majority just want to be able to say “hey you know, I don’t feel like driving five hours today”

Manly men in coal rolling trucks?

Amtrak, and the dots in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois saw this and added just a second train between Msp And Chicago daily and ridership exploded, trains sold out. A frequent thing that they do to save money is cut trips, but it’s doing so much more harm than good. They’re now finally realizing that if you want ridership people want options, they want to be able to arrive close to when they want, and some may want to just show up day of and ask when the next train is.
Here in Seattle they just added a 5th or 6th roundtrip to Portland because each time they do, ridership goes up. Turns out there’s a lot of people who would rather not drive.

No, I didn’t say anything like that. I’m saying they’re a large country that only took 10 years to build out a high speed rail network.

Looks at China over the last 10 years…

Hi, yes, Bruce, you keep saying you’re for the people, but we have seen increased police, AI cameras from the police placed everywhere, token transit improvements, and overall car-centric ideas. Also more businesses have closed under your leadership downtown. Why in the everloving hell should we keep you in?

It was fun, that can’t be denied. I went a few times, out of town guests liked it, and there was always a line outside. This is a bad thing, a Starbucks is better for the neighborhood than a boarded up building.
God the article gives everything except WHERE to find it
