Baguette has many senses in French. One of them is a small or thin stick, a regular stick is a bâton. I don’t know the etymological details, but as for sense these words today, it remains true that baguette is a kind of small bâton.
One thing to know about French language, is that whenever there is a grammar rule, it only covers at best 50% of cases and the rest are exceptions to the rule.
For instance:
- cigar -> cigarette
- trompe -> trompette
- (Cool, looks like we have a rule here)
- baguette, must be a small bague, right ? WRONG ! It’s a small bâton.

4·1 year agoI appreciate lossless quality, although I don’t have any fancy audio equipment at this time. When I move to a bigger place, maybe I’ll start to build a CD collection. I’m not so much into Vinyls, somehow they are so popular right now that artists will release a vinyl disk buy no download nor CD purchase possible…
I am buying music as much as I can, and build my own streaming service with Jellyfin. To this day, Bandcamp is were you can find the most music for purchase but not all artists are there. Often, I don’t find any place to purchase albums from artists, then I pirate as a last resort, sorry for that. I’ll go to the concerts when I get the chance, to make up for it.
