But in the meantime they conveniently get to pay less because they’re pretending the jobs aren’t really needed.
Ah okay, so AMAB (Assigned Male At Birth)? I was like 70% sure you said “biological” to specify it was because you’re not conforming to your assigned gender, so good to confirm that is the case! Sorry if this caused some stress, just wanted to check this wasn’t a real dogwhistle.
“Biological” man sounds like a dogwhistle, could you clarify?

43·3 months agoI’ve heard the bartering idea isn’t historically accurate, and that instead people just gave others in the communities things and just vaguely tracked the sense of “you owe me one”.

Voting different definitely would’ve helped for very little cost, but let’s remember that ICE has been around for a while and the Democratic party has long supported them too. I hope our ambitions don’t stop at merely going back to the old status quo, but we instead aim for, say, abolishing ICE altogether, or even abolishing the system that requires so many armed people to enforce things most of us don’t even want.
While this is definitely a positive, be aware that ICE is just the latest outgrowth of a fundamentally broken system where a small proportion of people control the rules by which we all operate and the violence that compels us to follow them. I hope people don’t stop at merely voting with ballots and wallets because history shows that doesn’t work for fundamental change, so I think we need more action like step 3 here.
“capitalism breeds innovation” okay well what if worker alienation
State violence is still violence, so self defense still applies.

10·4 months agoIt probably doesn’t help that sex and being in a heteronormal relationship is seen as cool and, by extension, not having those makes you seem like a loser. It’d probably be better if those things were seen as a nice-to-have on an individual basis rather than a societal expectation.

Hey Richard, why does NBC frame things propagandistically in the way the US federal government would frame things?
