At 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, federal judges in the Western District of Washington swore in former King County Superior Court judge and federal prosecutor Roger Rogoff as their pick for U.S. attorney.

Fifty-four minutes later, President Donald Trump fired him.

Rogoff, who recently resigned as director of the state office of independent investigations, formed to investigate police killings, is now the rope in a tug-of-war with the Trump administration. The district’s 17 sitting federal judges began looking for a replacement for Neil Floyd in January after the president failed to formally nominate him, instead appointing Floyd as interim and later as a “first assistant” U.S. attorney in order to sidestep the nomination process.

Rogoff said he was waiting in the lobby of the U.S. District Courthouse downtown to meet with Floyd, and presumably take Floyd’s office, when he got an email saying he’d been fired.

“We are working on legal action right now,” Rogoff said. “The rule of law requires that prosecutorial decisions remain free from political interference, and that lawful judicial appointments be respected. I remain grateful for the confidence placed in me and proud of the career professionals who continue to serve the people of Western Washington.”

Rogoff’s firing sets up a legal battle over a federal statute that gives a district’s federal judges authority to appoint a U.S. attorney if there is no formal nomination or Senate hearing.

It’s not irrelevant, it shows you know literally nothing about the US, and yet, you feel the need to speak like an authority on how the US functions and what people here are doing. It just shows how little you truly know, and how you’re inserting yourself into something you know nothing about.

Didn’t you say something in your 1000 comment post about not not engaging comments unless you know that you’re 100% correct? What happened to that? Were you just talking out of your ass again, trying to make yourself always seem 100% correct elsewhere?

Bruh, mixing up a city for a state doesn’t prove that I don’t know anything about American imperialism and fascism.

Crawl out of your own American exceptionalist ass and realize foreigners don’t have to memorize your geography or the pledge of allegiance lmao.

        Ah, here we go:

Call out bullshit when you see it. Don’t engage unless you know you’re 100% correct.

        Don’t write comments drunk, lol.

My favorite comments are ones where I know I’m right and can accurately source the statements I make. I’m proud to produce accurate information that may change a mind or two. Sometimes I’m proud to just make a dumbass look stupid. Soooometimes a funny insult or quip is the comment of the week.

Let’s see here, let’s break this down. You were 100% incorrect about Seattle being a city. You were 100% incorrect about what people are doing here, in Seattle.

You didn’t accurately source anything, and were incorrect, so now I get to be proud just to make a dumbass look stupid instead. Oh, wait, you don’t like that done to you?

This has nothing to do with “American exceptionalism”. You have consistently spoken as an authority on how Seattle operates, and what’s happening here, even though you couldn’t even get the city or state correct in the city’s own community. Did you get lost, friend?

What the fuck are you talking about lol. You’re a small minority in your city, let alone the state and let alone the country.

I got the name of a city and a state mixed up, that’s completely irrelevant to my point, which is that the vast majority of Americans aren’t doing fuck all to fight back against the pedophile billionaire fascists.

There you go again, speaking as an authority about Seattle when you have no fucking clue what you’re even talking about. It’s not a small minority, Seattle is one of the bluest, if not the bluest cities in the country, and we love a good riot.

It’s not completely irrelevant, because if you can’t get the basics correct, why the fuck should anyone listen to what else you have to say about it? Maybe try getting the basics correct before engaging, like you claimed you did in your little 1,000 comment celebration.

I think you’re lost. This isn’t /c/politics. This is /c/Seattle. Seattle is a city in Western Washington State. Washington state is located in the Pacific northwest, which is part of cascadia. Cascadia includes portions of Canada, Oregon, and Washington Western. It’s one of the bluest areas in the country, Trump was not even close to winning, and most here are doing your basic (let me emphasize, basic) suggestions. Your words here are fucking useless noise because we’re already way ahead of you. Just go to the Texas community if you want to bitch and blame people for not doing enough.
