The reason this is important and timely is because the messaging around these tools implicitly suggests there is an air of authority and integrity it would be impossible for them to have given that no journalists have examined and analyzed the mechanisms of these tools at any stage of their development.

        Indeed, very few people know journalism jargon, and authentication has vastly different meanings depending on the sphere of human knowledge one is inserted into.

        “Surely the rules don’t apply to me?”
