Librewolf upgraded to 158.0-1 today and stopped working on my Ubuntu 20.04 system.

I get an error:

/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.29’ not found

The highest supported version on my system is GLIBCXX_3.4.28

I can only use Librewolf now if I downgrade to version 156.0.1-1, even the Appimage has the same error.

    Honest question, what’s keeping you on such an old version? Standard support ended over a year ago. Sure, there’s “pro” updates, but why bother if you can move to the next LTS?

      Does it really matter? If support for a certain version is deprecated, one should not be provided with a broken package to that version. If this is a bug, then it should be fixed.

      Strange that the Appimage version also fails with the same error, I thought the whole point of Appimage was to avoid problems such as this.

        Apparently so. Neither LibreWolf nor AppImage are run by Canonical, so your choice to run unsupported software on an unsupported system is entirely on you.

        LibreWolf’s site says this (emphasis mine):

        Most AppImages run on recent versions of Arch Linux, CentOS, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Red Hat, Ubuntu, and other common desktop distributions.

        Even if it is a bug, why should someone else put in more effort to fix it than you’re putting in to maintain your own system?

        And you never answered the question.
