    It was the time before time, when dial-up ruled the world.

    My town didn’t have any service available for homes, only cybershops (like cybercafés, but they didn’t serve anything).

    There were these programs that you could download, to connect to a dial-up line. They had TV ads saying it was completely free! No subscription needed!

    Naturally, I downloaded the program in a cybershop, went home, hooked the computer to the phone line, and launched the program. It dialed and connected to the internet! Just a few hours for a few days. I told my mom: “It’s completely free! It says so on the ad on TV!” She was like “you dumb ass, it cannot be free! Nothing is free!”

    And once I called the phone company to ask how much money I was spending, I found out it was a lot. Like 200-300 USD. My mom wanted to murder me.
