What, apart from opening some garage doors, can you do with these? I was looking into getting one but they seem extremely limited, especially for the price tag. If I remember correctly, there’s just an STM32 inside these things.
Isn’t this the type of device that can be used to open cars that are unlocked when a certain transmitter is in proximity?
I may be mistaking this for something else but I remember talk about a somewhat similar looking device that could (among lots of other things) be used to steal cars this way.
I’ve tried with my own and friend’s cars. Pretty much all of them use one time keys, so the only way to actually open a car is to intercept a signal that the car does not receive, then play it back. Might be some other encryption stuff too because I could never get it to work.
It has some useful universal remotes so you can mess with with public tvs and other stuff. What it really boils down to is it’s a very nifty tool that can do a lot if you know exactly what you’re trying to do. What frequency the thing you want to mess with operates on, what kind of signals make it do things, etc.
I got one a while back and it’s fundamentally useless, even with attachments. If you’re actually going to do penetration testing you would be better off getting actual pentest devices. This is just a toy.

Most of the “benefits” are in the attachments. But it’s just a digital Swiss army knife basically
Most garage doors I’ve encountered use rolling codes so you can’t even do that safely 😭

I think you’re talking about a relay attack and the Flipper Zero cannot do that.
