I recently finally got pissed off enough to finally do something I had never done; write and call my congressman (federal and state). They’re both a piece of shit Republican that try hard to underwrite my rights, but I wrote regarding an issue that I think that all Americans can agree on - headlights are a problem to the point of physical pain. That being said, I’m now using the same form letter that took days to compose in order to get it into the brain of at least the two people I could potentially influence to somehow fix this god damned shit referenced in the meme. I don’t have fantastic ideas, but I do have a few, so I’m going to spam call and write (both e-mail and hand-written) the two people that are supposedly legally obligated to give a fuck until I see a bill drafted.

Thankfully, I’m just barely intelligent enough to word things as to not be reactionary or hateful in nature. However, with citations, footnotes etc. I’m at 129 pages and I’m not finished. They won’t read it. Not even their aides will. But fuck, it’s all I can do.

I had to delete a very long rant, because it wasn’t relevant, but Dear Reader please know - I’ve decided to do absolutely everything in my power to attempt to make people’s rights (there should never be a prefix to that imo) an utmost priority including and up to attempting to be the first trans woman to ever run for any kind of office here.

I don’t know. It could take years. Likely it would take a new party (which is a lol move in the US). The effort needed to run for anything (even a city council position) is immense. I’d need to do an astronomical amount of logistics in order to get elected to anything. What you can do indirectly is write and call your representatives and be very serious about it. Don’t try things like petitions that you know won’t go anywhere. Actual grass roots efforts in your neighborhood can mean a lot.

I’m not going to announce anything official here (partially because it doesn’t exist yet), probably ever. I am very privacy forward and have already made the mistake of putting my picture on here. However if you really want to help in general; do things like fund your library, parks, and community centers like the YMCA. They go a long way to allowing the rights of all people to commune and have company.
