When applying for my current job, one of the things I could honesly say was that I would probably continue working the position even if I had no need for the monetary incentive. And to be honest, if someone decided to pay all my expenses for the rest of my life, I’d rather be in my current position, rather than do nothing instead.

That is what working SHOULD be about.

that would be nice to have, but the jobs in demand don’t always match the supply of people that want to do that job, so you still need some people working jobs they don’t want.

for example, does anyone want to work as the garbage man?

Everyone does the shitty jobs is the best solution I’ve seen. If we’re working 20 hours a week because we no longer have 80% of our value stolen, then some of that free time should be dedicated to ensuring society continues running and improving. In essence, mandatory community service according to one’s ability.

The fastest way to automate a task that no one wants to do is to make everyone do it.
