Yes indeed. Literally the Valve Deckard is the only not too outdated option for trying out Linux VR to me. (Although it’s absolutely overkill for VRChat, Alyx and Beat Saber)
honestly I’m just waiting for them to release the overhauled steamvr for linux along with it because I can’t afford a new hmd, and its such a shitshow rn
like private said only valve and vive headsets work out of the box with the exception of the vive pro 2, but additionally you can also use monado to use the rift s and some wmr headsets natively on linux
I’m comparison to virtual desktop yeah the visuals are not as good. But that could be just because my install gets upset when I’m connected to two networks are once (Linux issue? Idk) alvr released a new version recently so I’ll try it out later to seeo if I get any improvements.

What headset do you have rn?
vive pro
Is VR on Linux even a thing rn?

As I know basically only the Valve headsets are good for Linux. Apparently some headsets can be made to work on Linux but those are experimental.
Alvr exists for wireless vr. Its a little rough around the edges buy it is OK for wireless vr. I get about 80ish Ms of delay using it on Linux.
And do you experience other disadvantages except the increased delay?
