  • Diversity lends credibility.

Diversity creates the illusion of credibility. Diversity does not automatically guarantee credibility.

You can have a dozen ideas, none of them valid, and you have diversity without credibility. Similarly, you can have only a single idea and, if it’s valid, then you have credibility without diversity.

There is no shame in being a communist, and so an attempt at a slur like “commie” is just as meaningless as one like “woke”.

Don’t ignore context, but look at it: this is an instance dedicated to leftist ideologies. In that context, you’re going to have different priority for what articles are posted and deemed relevant. Just like the News community on midwest social has its own context and thus priority for what articles are posted and deemed relevant.

  • In my knowledge it is a very finicky and dangerous to play around with medication, so an over the counter would be great!

Over-the-counter means it’s just on the shelves (as opposed to prescription-only, or even to behind-the-counter). You don’t have to interact with anyone except the cashier (or self-checkout machine).

I am torn on how I feel about it being freely available for purchase. On the one hand, in the current environment where lack of access to birth control can cause permanent detrimental effects on the trajectory of one’s life, and in which access to doctors who can dispense that medication is not readily available to everyone, the ability to simply walk in and purchase it off the shelf is very beneficial. The only benefit I see to having it be prescribed by a doctor is a (good) doctor forces you to listen to their paragraph about the potential harms and what side effects to watch out for. Mind you, if someone wants to educate themselves, they don’t need a doctor for that, as the information can be found freely online (or even in books at a library!); but, surely there will be plenty of people who don’t care to educate themselves on the potential dangers. Overall, I’m definitely on the side of this being a good decision, but to pretend it is entirely without risk is not accurate.

  • Reading the responses there is sickening. No humanity. Everyone is making fun of them, saying its deserved, saying its efficient or smart, saying they’re being “treated like royalty”, calling immigrants “boat people”, calling them rapists, suggesting to sink it.

I don’t understand how people are so evil. The people doing this are evil, but they’re profiting and maintaining power because of these actions; the people going out of their way to voice support are getting nothing out of it except perverse joy. Absolutely disgusting.

I had that thought in passing, but I’ve never managed such a setup and I (perhaps baselessly) assumed it would work out to be more expensive. Also, I’ve never looked at wired(-only) routers except when I have had to deal with rack-mount ones.

In theory though that could work perfectly. Do you have some starting points for me to look at wired routers, and APs? The Ubiquiti APs seem rather expensive, more than the all-in-one wifi routers I was looking at.

Thanks for the suggestion. I wasn’t aware of AsusWRT-Merlin, which would (in theory) open up ASUS routers. Having said that, and looking at the list on their website and checking prices, it is definitely out of the question. They range from “way too expensive” to “astronomically and absurdly expensive” (some are pushing $600USD).
