  • Yea I don’t really see a solution besides slow ass progress which is kind of untenable anyway, and, generally speaking, I’ve never known a group of people to work together unanimously for good…rare at best, and usually only after some collective trauma, which we have largely desensitized ourselves to.

I’m definitely not being locked down, that’s for sure. But that’s just me. I don’t fly, hell I barely drive outside of work. I don’t know.

To install some sense of principle/awareness into a vast swath of people would take insane restructuring in my country at least.

  • Yes. Smaller community, and generally more intelligent, or at least more capable of having a meaningful discussion.

I think it’s something that happens when you throw a larger group of people together, like reddit, where people act a bit different ime

Even I am less toxic, and more positive. Something about reddit messed that up.

Atp, I’m here more for discourse than any specific content, and that’s something I really missed about social media.

  • Ya that’s not a sign uneducated imo. Infact, formal education has very little to do with how “educated” one is ime.

I didn’t go to college. And most of my “peers” didn’t either. But I wouldn’t consider myself uneducated in the least.

Many of my peers use this term, and while “uneducated”, many are far from dumb.

I’d consider it more of a dialect atp.

But I guess your right in that there is a higher chance they are kind of uneducated, but i think how you portray it comes off as pearl clutching, and sort of mean.

  • I live in the pretty rural u.s. and my water is pumped up from an underground water table, a well that may or may not contain high traces of any number of metals, minerals, or toxic substances, and it’s important to have it tested.

I get my drinking water in refillable 5 gal jugs, 2 at a time, from a machine that has pretty intense filters, iirc. So it’s pretty much filtered tap water.

A filtration system would be pretty expensive outside of a basic sediment filter, which I have. Showering is fine with my tap water. Drinking it is probably fine too tbh, and I do it once in a while. Though I try to be conscious about my water usage, cause digging a deeper well is out of my power, money wise.

In some cities, there is lead in the water due to infrastructure incompetence, and straight malicious bad actors.

That’s not a problem in my home city, and the tap is largely fine to drink.

  • Punk > indie > hip hop > jazz, roots, Americana, > all

I play music and I love almost all music styles as long as there is a weighty performance and evokes the human spirit.

There is just something about creation itself that I find beautiful, and there is no one genre or artist that changed my perspective.

If there was it’d be this band Subtle. That informed a lot of my ideas on what good art even means.

My favorite guitar player is Richard Thompson.

I have a bunch of fav drummers, buy anyone who’s got soul is worth a listen.

I think that’s the point. There is no best, there is only you.

I think poetry changed my musical identity more than music itself.
