There was one I used to enjoy whose whole schtick was doing skits mocking onspiracy types. Then came Trump, and now if I go try to watch his stuff he’s either the dumbest kind of MAGA or he’s wearing the mask well enough it’s hard to tell if he means it or he’s satirizing it or if he just wants money and MAGA is a more valuable audience to advertise at.

Most of the ones I watched I watched because they did mod spotlights for mods I was trying to wrap my head around. The only one I particularly liked was Mischief of Mice, I think they remain relatively wholesome?

If there were, the markets that specialize in “ugly” produce would do much, much better, have higher demand and buy up more of the produce to fill it.

That 40% is what’s left after supermarkets buy all the “pretty” bananas they think they can sell, manufactured food companies buy up what they can use for stuff like purees, sliced banana going into various products, that sort of thing and “ugly” produce sellers (places like Misfits Market) buying up what they think they can sell. I don’t think bananas are used in animal feed but for crops where that’s a common use some of it gets sold for that. Broadly, each of these involves the farmer making less money per unit weight than the previous and selling less desirable product to each.

Allowing a higher percentage of abnormal bananas to go to market would give people the option to buy them, but it wouldn’t remove their ability to buy normal bananas.

The core of it is this:

You have a crop. The “pretty” ones get sold to supermarkets at the highest price (who in turn only want to buy the “pretty” ones because they sell best). The less pretty ones get sold to manufactured food companies, where the processing hides that they weren’t “pretty” - diced veggies for canned vegetable soup, fruit purees, that kind of thing. There’s not enough demand here to sell all the “ugly” ones. There’s also online markets that sell “ugly” produce, like Misfits Market - they buy it cheaper than supermarkets and can resell cheaper than supermarkets as a result. Depending on the crop, some lower quality ones might get sold as animal feed. The rest is running out of people who want to buy it.

That and buyers preferring “pretty”/consistent produce, which means supermarkets only want to buy produce to spec because the other stuff won’t sell as well, shelf space is limited and it costs the supermarket more to waste unsold food than to just not buy food unlikely to sell. There are online markets out there that sell “ugly” produce that’s not to spec, but they aren’t broadly popular enough to make a huge dent in waste.

They aren’t against the concept of having pets themselves they just don’t like that pets are specifically bred for domestication when millions of pets are put down in shelters because they couldn’t find homes.

…and yet PETA shelters have higher kill rates than many/most others.

Only way to fight back in the War on Christmas, which like the Palestine and Israel is mostly just an excuse for the alleged victim (Israel) to attack and take territory from their neighbors.

Here Christmas has invaded so far that there are occasional sightings before the equinox.

Just wait for a few generations of brain implants down the line. Then you will believe what you are programmed to believe. Opposition will be literally unthinkable.

I say #2, specifically because it can be done mathematically, as opposed to trying to agree on some definition of “fairness” that isn’t completely different for every office and doesn’t have to be wholly redistricted every election as a consequence.

Say, something like least split line. Basically, if you have an even number of seats for a region, draw the shortest length line that splits the region into two regions of equal population. If you have an odd number of seats > 1, then draw the shortest line that splits the region based on number per seat given one side gets the “extra” seat (for example, for 5 seats you’d split so that one side is 2/3 of the other side and give 3 seats to one side and 2 to the other). Repeat the process for each region created by these lines until each region represents one seat. If there are multiple shortest lines, you the one closest to a NS axis. The extra seat always goes to the west side of the line.

…and then there’s the second Fear and Hunger, where my first run ended with the Woodsman because I chopped off the arm holding the giant axe instead of killing his dick, and then the dick detached and went all Alien face hugger and stunned me while he beat me up with his remaining arm.

Of course I like explaining Pathologic to people as “the game that looks at a glance like it’s an FPS adjacent RPG but in which when you first get a gun you will probably immediately sell it to buy some bread”. Fucking plague caused by an infected wound in a very unusual location.

I suspect the person choosing for that day wasn’t thinking along those lines though.

…which is also World Toilet Day, which typically gets more attention. Note that it was International Men’s Day first, so someone decided they needed a Toilet Day and decided it should be on the same day.

Especially since the most common sexuality just…wasn’t on the tier list at all. Not even marked as F tier or something.

That’s how men are measured, so equality I guess? Seriously though, note how much talk about men as a class is specifically about CEOs, Senators and the like who are far, far away from the average experience.

Better to compare it to gab than Facebook. Steam community supports and allows way worse shit than Facebook because they have no advertisers who will pull out if the site is crawling with Nazis.

As a general rule, Steam itself doesn’t moderate their forums - game forums are moderated by the dev/publisher or whoever they designate, and user communities are moderated by whoever runs that community or whoever they designate, barring content that is actually illegal in the US (like CP) which Steam will actually take action on. Steam will rarely moderate user profiles, but only if it’s extremely egregious.

How do those food stamps work anyways? Can you use them like money? I’m not American so it’s a foreign concept yo me.

You get an EBT debit card with an amount of money based on some calculations that can only be spent on certain things (in the case of SNAP aka food stamps, you can only spend that balance on food). WIC is another subsidized food program that sometimes gets included when talking about “food stamps” targeting people with small children, which has a more restrictive list on what you can buy with it.

Some of the guidelines have been painfully dumb, even if there was an intended logic to them - like “no hot food” where the goal was to disallow restaurant purchases and purchasing pre-cooked meals because they are generally a less efficient use of the funds, but led to dumb shit like Subway noting that they sell subs cold and so could hypothetically still sell, then just offer to toast the sub post-sale so that the division was meaningless.

Then you have the abuses of the program that really do need fixed, like stores that are well known to be willing to buy certain stock from just anyone, at a stupidly low price. The idea being that you go to Walmart or wherever and buy up a bunch of product that you can buy on SNAP, take it to the store and resell it at a massive loss to launder your SNAP funds into regular cash. In my area it was certain convenience stores that were known to buy certain brands of soda in cases of cans for much less than they could be bought through legitimate channels as a way of laundering SNAP funds.
