  • I usually buy pea protein from MyProtein online. I personally find whey proteins to be way too sweet. The only issue is that it’s thicker, so I need to use a blender, rather than one of those shaker cups.

Find a basic flavor like vanilla, and add fruit (usually banana for me.) You can add a non dairy milk of your choice, if you don’t want to use water. Soy milk works well, and has bonus protein.

Yes, and add a little bit of cold war style paranoia in there as well. These companies know that their product doesn’t work very well, but they think their competitor is maybe right on the verge of a breakthrough, so they rush to deploy and capture market share, lest they get left completely behind.

I love my “smart” thermostat. Being able to adjust the AC or heat a few degrees when I’m leaving work so my place is the perfect temp when I get home is awesome.

I don’t understand why I would want any of my other appliances to be “smart.”

Yeah, this is a common fascist recruitment tactic. “The world has gone to shit, things were better before.”

This is the call to return to the golden past, a perfect time before “they” took it away from “us.” In reality, as you point out, that golden past never existed. However, once people have it framed in their minds that their chance at utopia was “taken” from them, there’s almost nothing they don’t feel justified in doing to take it back.

  • My main argument against lawns is the massive amounts of pesticides, weed killers, and fertilizer they require to look like the ones in the picture. Coincidentally, that’s the point this meme is making.

Also, just because lawns aren’t the worst possible use off water that you can think of, doesn’t make them not wastes of water. Just because almond farms in California use more water that lawns on the same state doesn’t change the fact that lawns waste water. Those same California almond farms sissy have nothing to do with the thousands of suburbs in other areas which have HOAs that require grass lawns.

Aside from all that, not all of the 85% of industrial water usage is wasteful. Efficiency needs to be improved, but we do need to grow food to eat.

So don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

  • I bartend. I was working on Easter, and one of our semi regulars came in with a guy that she was obviously on a drink date with. They’d been at at least one other bar before they came in; they’d had a couple drinks, but weren’t past maybe tipsy.

At one point, she mentioned that the reason the last place they’d been to was slow was likely that it happened to be Easter. At the mention of the word the guy interrupted with,

“I REFUSE TO TALK ABOUT ANY POLITICS OR RELIGION!!”

To me this was a sign that this dude cared very much about religion and politics, but just like how scientologists don’t drop the Xenu shit on you right away, he wanted to wait until any prospective partner was in too deep before revealing how abhorrent his views are.

That regular isn’t my favorite person, but I was proud of her for pretty much ending that date after that.
