  • I had the opportunity to experience a masterclass in how to handle extreme weather events in Saskatchewan.

    -Bundle the fuck up

-Check on / help your neighbours

-If you see someone stuck in thier vehicle help them for God’s sake.

In terms of unstucking a vehicle, the trick is to “rock it” out. Once you even get a little bit of motion, you’re in a better spot. If you are bring pushed, or are pushing, make sure the driver’s window is open for communication. When pushing, still be thinking about the task as rocking out. You push and they apply (a little) gas, till they hit the limit. Let them roll back after, then coordinate another push.

  • I mean, it’s a reasonable place to start at the very least?

    We’re talking about pickpockets, right?

Someone tried to pickpocket me in Europe on the train. I blocked the door and, despite having no common language, I left them know I was aware they had taken my stuff. I’m pretty sure they understood it was my intention to get it back and that was going to be a hassle for everyone.

They just handed it back and left.

Should I have just started swinging?

  • I get it, but it has to be obvious how quickly this logic can spiral, though.

If I come around a corner and find you putting the boots to someone begging you to stop, you’re getting smoked by the biggest thing I can find. I don’t know the context. Violence to stop violence is measured.

Being wronged isn’t a carte blanche. As soon as you introduce violence, suddenly violence actually becomes the measured response against YOU.

  • Yes, we can accept that we’re all multifaceted. We contain multitudes. We can love some things about a person, and hate others.

Difficulties really only arise when we choose to make the broadest judgements into the narrowest categories. The whole must be good, the whole must be bad.

I hate how brutal he can be. I love how brutal he can be.

I think people are too obsessed with assigning a binary state to a whole human. It’s downright offensive.
