The issue with reddit is that it turns everyone into know it all assholes. The discussion is absolutely horrendous over there. Here it’s so much better and more sensible.

I love that I’m actually using essentially a protocol, instead of a corporate service. The discussion here is good, there is a lot of interest in the “old web” which I’m fascinated in, and the place has just enough users to feel comfy and not absolutely chaotic. It’s awesome.

r/Malazan and r/Rickygervais

It always felt to me like there was just a huge shift in the entire reddit culture. At some point, everything changed and it was no longer the same. The users all got worse, the moderation got worse, reddits decision making got worse. The site is nothing like it was when I joined in 2013.

I must admit since using reddit I’ve been sucked in to politics and some pretty shitty views / opinions. In all honesty I’d prefer to not see any politics here, but I’ve actually seen none so far. Most threads seem to stay on topic and don’t tend to go off on some political spiral.

There was a few links to other stuff, gutted they deleted it. I will start posting some links on !oldweb

Bro, I’m going to be honest. I have no idea. Still trying to wrap my head around how that stuff works. Someone linked something on another lemmy instance and it prompted me to setup a new account on that instance. So I’m not too sure how it all works 100%.
