chat is this real
did some digging and found the original artists and it turns out this was the splash for the development version specifically hence why it’s not in the splash archive
The header literally says “Development Version Splash History”, and as I’ve said, the entire 2.7 series is made of development versions.
then i dont know why it’s not included, i found some 2011 forums showing how to compile the release with this splash screen so it was used at some point ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Occam’s razor: it’s the most obvious reason 🥴
According to this archival screen recording, it is, in fact, real.
Oh my god this is awesome
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

It would seem not.
it is, just for the development version tho
The 2.7.x series is comprised entirely of development versions. In GIMP, odd feature versions are developmental and even feature versions are stable
oh, didn’t know that
Do the development versions have a history of having more risqué splash screens? Is there a list of them somewhere?
the hunt for the gimp smut beings
But 2.7.2 exists and isn’t listed.
bonus:
the gimp 1.1.0 splash screen
Ha, blimp
